It's really annoying trying to search for threads using this mechanism... You type in Vettel or Schumacher or Hamilton heaven forbid, a common word like button, and you get told... "Sorry that word is too popular"
Anyway... here we are once again, Vettel driving a fantastic race yet I am convinced it is 2010 all over again.
I was reading on another forum how some were criticising Vettel for only just beating Webber in 2010 and relying on his team mate's broken shoulder to take the championship. It really irks me how Formula One fans will look at some facts but overlook the others... like how flipping unlucky Vettel was that season. I am certain he was in contention to win almost every race. Certainly the 10 that he qualified on pole for! But if it weren't for his car failing he would've walked away with championship.
The pattern is unraveling again this year. Vettel has been on pole 3 times, but only has 1 win to show for it. Here is Vettel's chance to win the title in an inferior car, but you can bet your bottom dollar that F1 fans will once again not be convinced and apply that double standard that Vettel is only as good as his car and Webber is slow. Meanwhile Alonso is better than his car...

It'll once again be a neck and neck championship. But Vettel's technical aptitude is coming through again, as you need a consistent driver to continually improve the car. Hence, if the RB8 improves over the duration of the year you can be sure it's Vettel's feedback and Newey's ingenuity.
He'll probably get pole position 10 times again this season, but what will be telling is the cars reliability and this stupid lottery with the tires. It could also be that Vettel simply got lucky with the tires in Valencia and we'll actually see a new form of domination come Silverstone...
