Worth a watch, even if you aren't particularly a Vettel fan like me :) Couple of cool clips, like Vettel driving a kart as a 3 year old.

Can you believe that there are some folks getting their knickers in a twist because he said what is perceived to be a naughty word. The same people should coming into my work some day - they'd faint in shock! :hehe:

Dammit I forgot that was on last night, thanks for posting it. Interesting that he mentioned KERS as being only 60 hp. The customs story was pretty funny though.

Has anyone seen the interview with Ecclestone and Vettel on the official Formula One Site? :wavey:

I think both were absolutely hilarious and it made for a good read.

I think we have a really cool world champion on our hands. :)

Just a few pointers I liked:

- Both Vettel and Ecclestone acknowleging that Seb is a sore loser at times. His face after losing backgammon is similar to the one he had on the podium in Canada! :hehe:
- Vettel believing he has already proven himself after winning the title last year. He wanted to be very straight about the rumored drives for Ferrari and Mercedes. He is after results and winning. Not to following some myth. As long as he is happy when he looks at himself in the mirror.
- Vettel seems genuine when he says that he would pay to drive in Formula One, and that he does not believe that he is any better than his schoolmates. He is doing something that he loves. Ecclestones remark that Vettel shouldn't say that out loud brought a chuckle. :hehe:
- The acknowlegment that Vettel is facing better opposition than Schumacher did in his hey-day.
- The comments about Vettel's potential future team mate in Hamilton.

I felt that the inteview was very candid, and I'm prepared to see Vettel win 100 races or so in the next 10 years. Although it is interesting how much my appreciation has been growing for what Schumacher did for the sport. I read that out-performed one Nelson Piquet in his very first race for Benetton!

So I really do not think that the claims of Schumacher not proving himself against quality opposition are justified, but I don't think that was what Ecclestone was insinuating.

I don't think anybody was given enough elbow room to develop when Michael was on it, a few came and all were conquered, albeit Hakkinnen, the one driver Michael truly feared and respected. Once Michael started losing pace we had a greater mix of world champions.

It's really annoying trying to search for threads using this mechanism... You type in Vettel or Schumacher or Hamilton heaven forbid, a common word like button, and you get told... "Sorry that word is too popular"

Anyway... here we are once again, Vettel driving a fantastic race yet I am convinced it is 2010 all over again.

I was reading on another forum how some were criticising Vettel for only just beating Webber in 2010 and relying on his team mate's broken shoulder to take the championship. It really irks me how Formula One fans will look at some facts but overlook the others... like how flipping unlucky Vettel was that season. I am certain he was in contention to win almost every race. Certainly the 10 that he qualified on pole for! But if it weren't for his car failing he would've walked away with championship.

The pattern is unraveling again this year. Vettel has been on pole 3 times, but only has 1 win to show for it. Here is Vettel's chance to win the title in an inferior car, but you can bet your bottom dollar that F1 fans will once again not be convinced and apply that double standard that Vettel is only as good as his car and Webber is slow. Meanwhile Alonso is better than his car...

It'll once again be a neck and neck championship. But Vettel's technical aptitude is coming through again, as you need a consistent driver to continually improve the car. Hence, if the RB8 improves over the duration of the year you can be sure it's Vettel's feedback and Newey's ingenuity.

He'll probably get pole position 10 times again this season, but what will be telling is the cars reliability and this stupid lottery with the tires. It could also be that Vettel simply got lucky with the tires in Valencia and we'll actually see a new form of domination come Silverstone...

I think that Vettel is a very talented driver but last season the RB7 flattered him; he really wasn't that much better than the likes of Alonso or Hamilton or Button; he just had a fantastic Adrian Newey designed car that was streets ahead while having a good but not spectacular team mate in Mark Webber. This season the playing field has been levelled and Vettel does have to fight for top points and has had some bad luck, like Hamilton. I don't think that Alonso outdrives his car because that is not possible; a driver can't get more out of a car than it can give; he simply extracts the maximum out of the car, much like Vettel does; I believe there are three drivers that are capable of doing that right now; Vettel, Hamilton and Alonso!

Happy 25th birthday Sebastian!
:clap::clap::clap:

It's incredible to think how young he still is, yet what he has already done.
At this age:
Michael Schumacher just started his first championship season in '94.
Fernando Alonso was only half-way his second championship campaign in 2006.
Ayrton Senna was only in his second season of Formula One, and still one month away from his first victory.
Alain Prost was almost going to drive his first Formula One race.

Of the 10 youngest Formula One drivers, only 3 (Button, Alonso and Vettel) were able to win a race.

Are you sure? Of the current grid, 5 of the drivers are the youngest to win a race Sebastian (21) Alonso (22) Lewis (22) Kimi(23) Schumacher (23) .Button doesnt feature in the top 10.
Unsuprisingly the youngest to win world championships are Sebatian (23) Lewis (23) and Alonso (24)

Yeah, but Jenson was only 20 years and 53 days old when he made his Grand Prix debut with Williams, back in 2000.
