The original 3 movies were works of art and should have been able to stand out in time as testament to what can be achieved in pushing special effects to the limits without CG, according to Lucas, those movies no longer exist. He permanently altered the original print in the making of the special editions and what is claimed to be the original release in the current boxsets isn't the original release.
I don't generally have a problem with the likes of Cameron realeasing their directors cuts but Lucas has just made a total mess of his own movies and taken away one of the things that made them very special.

The original 3 alone would beat 'em all Good Sir. We don't speak of the newer 3.

Much like with the latest Indiana Jone film. The originals were great but the Crystal Skulls one was not in the same league.
