DRS could be considered fake but aside from that, nah. I have enjoyed the sarcastic responses in this thread. :D

Besides, if people don't like it, they can very simply stfu and go follow another sport, it's not hard to do.

Fake as in it doesn't exist? F1, this forum and everyone here are a figment of my imagination or something like that?

Ye God's, it's the Matrix - I hated that film! :irked:

Maybe Bernie decides which driver gets the good tires for the race

And bad tyres.

Or any tyres at all! I do wonder about some of the things that go on to be fair such as the recent Hamilton incident, the fact they are still using Bahrain etc.

Who's birthday is it for the next race?

Ron Dennis a couple of days after.

What better way to celebrate than getting that elusive 150th pole position! :P

Great place for Lewis to grab that pole and give a Happy Birthday to Ron in the press conference. :)

Better yet, go as far as to say "We miss you more than you think".

Can I just clarify what I meant when I said 'Yes its fake'.
I didnt mean the results are engineered to give wins to particular teams or people, though we all know Bernie will change the rules to suit his nedds.

I meant its fake in that the excitment is somewhat contrived. Tyres that go off rapidly rather than gradually and overtake buttons. All designd to give closer racing, a more level playing field, take away the advantages of the more talented.
I still like F1, its still my favoprite sport, but Id prefer a little less but more genuine excitement.

Well I'm loving the racing at the moment. Anything which transforms Barcelona from its usual borefest is fine by me.

The last two races there have been great.

What makes rapidly degrading tyres fake, but long lasting ones natural? It's just a matter of perspective.

If you want a natural race, rather than one man made and engineered, then watch the 100 meters sprint, apart from all the sports psychologists, nutritionists designer running shoes etc.

You could argue the dirty air is artificially slowing down a faster car, preventing them from overtaking whereas in clean air they'd be able to run much faster.

The tyre issue is the same for everyone, f1 should be challenging, it helps differentiate the drivers. Having long lasting grippy tyres means there's no variation in strategy, and its easier for the drivers as they have more grip available.

The tyres are designed to drop off suddenly, making it a bit of a lottery rather than an ability to manage them as they loose grip. And look at the farce quali has become with only about 5 of the top ten runners going out. Far too much emphasis on the tyres at the expense of the driver and car.

The qualifying problem is due to the teams having the same set of tyres for qualifying and the race, it is a problem, but just give them qualifying only tyres. Maybe even super-soft ones.

I'd prefer it if they got rid of the "must use both compounds rule" and the only two types of dry tyres for an event. Let the teams use what tyres they want when they want during the race. That would really open things up, won't stop the artificial arguments though, "he only passed as he had softer tyres", but it might be useful to point out the other driver choose to have harder tyres.

The cliff is another problem, but they don't drop of immediately, there is a fair bit of degradation before they loose grip massively.

Reality... Michelin is pushing all season tires rated for 90k miles... Up and down the pits in Grand Am and LMS you can find cars doing triple stints the lenght of two entire F1 races with regularity in 12 and 24 hour events. Yes, it's not natural to have tires that completely fall off a cliff in 10~12 laps.

Part of the sport and it's the same for everyone but yeah it's not reality.

That's not true, missing the window by one lap we've seen drivers lose 7 positions in two laps.

The best solution I've heard so far is to simply give everyone that makes it to Q3 a set of options to use only there and give back after the session. Would solve a lot of the qualifying fiasco of not even making an attempt. Anyone that spends $500 dollars for a weekend ticket deserves to see all ten cars running on track on Q3.
