Agreed but these tyres PENALISE aggressive driving> Who on earth wants F1 drivers to drive aggressively

Discuss the sport you love with other motorsport fans
Great race from Seb and Lotus would love Kimi to have won. The main talking point though was what Schumi said about the tyres; I quote "I just question whether the tyres should play such a big importance, or whether they should last a bit longer - and that you can drive at normal racing car speed and not cruise around like we have a safety car."
I have to say I agree with him. Maybe this topic requires a thread of it's own but I want to see racers racing not managers managing. What do we watch F1 for? If it's to see the best go hammer and tongs, then the tyre situation where cars are forced to stop after 8 laps or lose heaps of time, has to be improved. I can see the point of having some portion of a drivers performance governed by race management, but the utter dominance of one style of racing is I suggest to the detriment of our sport.
The racing is being done in Q3 these days - there you got the all out fast knickers-down-your-ankles racing. The 'race' itself somewhat ironically is more about getting to the checkered flag in one piece and as speedy as all the components of the car allow.

Not sure about that! Not this season anyway.

Granted there's racing for position galore this year, but as MS stated, it's somewhat with one hand tied behind the drivers' back given the tire situation - it's definitely not all-out racing for the most part or you'd see SV, e.g., take off and build up a gap of 25 seconds at least and not just maintaining a 3 second gap to nurse the car home and not even finishing the victory lap because the car was so marginal by that time.

I thought you were saying the races were being won in Q3, crossed wires there. Yes, that is true, but i still prefer it this way because it tests a wider range of driver attributes (and is a hell of a lot more exciting to watch as a fan!).
Ah - stop whining! Remember MS last time around? He had to retire b/c they didn't secure his front right wheel at the last pit stop. At least LH could continue and get some points out of it.

Unfortunately, sometimes crap happens, but McLaren have managed to have crap happen quite a bit so far this season. I believe I've counted five blundered pit stops for Lewis Hamilton alone in just four races, and I believe one for Button, in addition to a gearbox penalty for Hamilton and a DNF today for Button. Leave it to McLaren to take a great car and a great driver lineup and still manage to go home as losers.
I'm a McLaren fan, and specifically a Lewis Hamilton fan, so admittedly I'm a bit upset as of late. Lewis has absolutely rotten luck. Granted, last year a good bit of that was of his own doing, but that was 2011.
Alonso responded to the decision via Twitter: "I think you are going to have fun in future races! You can defend position as you want and you can overtake outside the track! Enjoy!))"
Time to start following this joker on Twitter I think.
But in fairness he is correct. Wasn't a rule added after Schumacher pushed Lewis off at Monza last year saying you can't "crowd" a driver off the track and you have to leave a car's width when moving across the track. Rosberg was guilty, but as soon as Hamilton, Alonso, Schumacher etc do it, they will get a penalty.
Rosberg's reputation has saved him here. Hamilton was lucky that he didnt clip that wall, otherwise that would have been nasty!
Johnny Herbert should be a permanent steward, rather than Pirro, who didnt even qualify for half the races and was never quick enough to be involved in any important battles. But then if Johnny was a steward every race we would lose his expert opinions on Sky, as I think he is a great pundit
