So for all you know, Whitmarsh was asked about Button and decided to mention Hamilton out of the goodness of his heart but it seems he was asked about tyre management and the different approaches of his drivers.

He does say nice things, I was reading some comments on a story in planetf1 where now they are claiming Ron Dennis is in on this favouring Button bs, because he was on Jensons side of the garage.
It's all getting pathetic.

And here was me thinking that Ron Dennis had handed complete control of the F1 team to Martin Whitmarsh back on the 16 April 2009. Do these people never think that the guy is just showing a bit of interest in the team he used to run?! Occam's Razor.

I like this section and believe the bolded section is hitting the nail on the head. Which is why the guy can smile all he wants even when he's beaten, its where he belongs in the grand scheme of things. But when he makes some gamble and ends up in front of Hamilton/Hamilton screws up, it's like an additional bonus which he could celebrate into the nights.

Exactly, it's madness to suggest that Uncle Ron is favouring Button. He's firmly in the Hamilton camp. He was clearly on a spying mission or was maybe acting as a goodwill ambassador.

It is a bit silly now this.

Because its not about McLaren being horrid to Lewis. Its about subtle dynamics within the team that may affect his performances.......may not of course......... But its very relevant if you support Lewis and should not be swept under the carpet.
