A threat of violence is still an act of terror as it still terrorises the person being threatened.

I don't know if it's a lost in translation for you because English is a second language the term Terrorist is not held only for militants extremists as what you're implying.
If someone threatens you with violence they are terrorising you thus a terrorist. The last paragraph of this letter is clearly an act of terror as its intent is to scare the drivers into boycotting. be it an idle threat or for real is irrelevant in its classification.

Bernie is a f@cking idiot by putting the sport under this kind of scrutiny. Agree or disagree with the causes of the ruling class or the citizens of Bahrain, it was a financially based greedy decision to attempt a Grand Prix in a country that has to impose marshal law in order to assure safety.

As much as I disagree with the threat in that letter, it's there because there is a cultural foundation as you say, but it's also there because there is desperation on the part of a people willing to die in order to get their point addressed. Think of your life and your situation and try to come up with ONE thing in your current life that you'd be willing to die for. I'd bet there is not one here, that can come up with a reason other than saving a loved one, and living under a dictatorship, for generations gives you those reasons.

Bud, How's what they're doing different than the situation in Scotland in the 17 and 1800's?

Personally I'm not taking sides, this is a Shia vs Sunni argument. And which has the power in the country. What I do know is if the protesters got their way womwens rights in the country would suffer as Ferrarifan has pointed out in another thread.

I laughed heartily at the part about how going ahead with a race means people have died for nothing. Those guys trivialize their deaths even more summarily by indicating that their lives only held enough value to cancel a race that bahrain freedom note is also the biggest piece of hypocritical trash I've read in a while. the d bags deserve what they're getting with that attitude.

I understand the fighting fire with fire attitude but it's not the F1 teams, drivers, mechanics, journalists and TV crews that have caused the issues within Bahrain, it's the ruling government and military. I have sympathy for their fight, we all want to live in a free and democratic state but threatening innocent people has made me lose a great amount of respect for this group of people!
