He wasn't insulted at the question, he's simply insulted at "it" being questioned. The fact that it was a dumb idea to be in this situation once again. The issue here isn't safety really because it's unlikely someone directly associated with an F1 team will get hurt. The problem is the environment the race is being held under, the aura of fear, of protesting and of a draconian regime that would rather see the protest squelched by brute force rather than address the causes.

F1 is simply the vessel here, not the content. I'm sure Bernie's resent is towards the protesters however. Like any good capitalist would. The ruling families that sign the contracts or pay the bills are except from stupid decisions.

If Bernie is a smart man, we will not see F1 return to Bahrain in 2013. it's simply not worth the questions and the likelihood that it will repeated once again next year. There are far too many other countries pushing for a spot on the calendar. If he's a greedy man, we'll see the contract extended.

She asked a stupid question and deserved a stupid answer. Maybe if she'd improve her question quality she'd get on better or maybe if she'd stop trying to giggle after every questionshe may get taken seriously.

A mighty misogynistic response.

There was no surprise on her face after his response.

I beg to differ.

Lol that looks like a half smirk to me. Like "yeah, you know what I'm thinking". We'll agree to disagree on this one.

He's almost always on the grid just before the race talking with the drivers during the 30 min countdown, from what I've seen in the last two years. I think he might make it quite a point to be very present due to such speculation. Either way, he shouldn't be scared because he's old as hell now, lived his life, so :censored: it he can take a chance lol

I agree. He WILL be there, he has no freakin choice. It's a race where his presence is a MUST for the teams, because everyone went there under his and the FIA's guarantee.

If he's not at Bahrain, everyone can hate him all they want and I'll be happy to join the hate pool. :D

Likewise!! It would be the d*ck move of the year if he didn't show up for some reason, so I can understand both sides of the argument about that lady's question. Her tone, to me at least, suggested it was more of a jab than an honest question, but my perception of women's intentions has been......skewed as of late. It's all about perception!

...because a simple "yes" was apparently more difficult to say than "what a stupid question, you're gonna get a stupid answer. What would you expect?"

Contrary to what many might think of Bernie (a mega rich old dude who has an easy time) I believe he's one of the busiest men in the World, handling the most expensive sport globally. Money isn't a factor to him anymore (once you're super rich, $$$ is worth nothing) what's a factor to him is to grow his business and become even more powerful.

What's happening in Bahrain is a negative to his business, and as the CEO he WILL have a tipping point...he's human afterall. I can agree he's not a pleasant personality, but it's a side effect of being eccentric and a genius. Let's admit it, he is one. What we saw there is a stress related response, we all have these moments. Only ours aren't publicised.

Bernie will HAVE to attend; he'll lose face if he decides to stay away for ANY reason, although don't be surprised to see him walking around with a small nation's army surrounding him!

As for the race itself, I'm very interested to see if Mercedes can continue their form into Bahrain or will be service as normal with McLaren locking out the front row, I hope to see Williams resurgence continue, will Ferrari be able to get back to the sharp end of the grid or will they still be fighting for the minor points.

Bernie is having the Pope mobile shipped in as we speak... it will be there by Thursday.

Do you know what misogynistic means? There is certainly no misogyny in my post.

Not sure how many if you saw this, but...

Man, Bernie is such an asshole. I knew he was a bitter old man, but the way he treated this Sky reporter is simply inexcusable. what a douche.

I think he handled it perfectly.

That was the most stupid question that reporter could've asked. You're asking Mr. F1, Bernie Eccelstone if he's going to one of the most important Grands Prix in a long time? Just as Bernie said, a stupid question.

Asking that question to Bernie is like going up to Stefano Dominicalli and asking him if he's going to the Bahrain Grand Prix. OBVIOUSLY he's going.

It seemed as if she could'nt handle Bernie's quick-fire answers and was just clutching at straws as to what to ask next. If that reporter wants to see how to properly interview Mr. Ecclestone, she should watch Martin Brundle interviewing Bernie on the grid just before the race.
