man, awesome race. So excited for the rest of this season after the snoozer last year.
Incidentally, I think it's time to do away with this safety car BS. There has to be a better way to resume a race after a pause to retrieve a car. After working the whole race to build leads, the drivers deserve to keep them.
How about reform the grid, take off in timed I intervals of the gap you had before the race was stopped?
exactly what I was thinking (or even setting off out of the pit lane). I don't see why it would be so difficult.
Okay but what about penalties? The timing would have to be exact and I think would cause too much confusion. The safety car has always been and will continue to be the best option, in my view.
I don't see what penalties have to do with anything, nor why the timing would have to be "exact" for this to be better than the safety car. I say round to the nearest second. This also takes care of the backmarkers unlapping themselves nonsense.
Because the competitive drivers would complain of it being unfair and there'd be so many loop holes. While its an understandable idea, the FIA will never implement it.
?
It's way more fair than the current system. What are the loopholes? Are there not less loopholes than with a safety car (as illustrated today)?
The were no loop holes today, just luck. Seb got lucky, Lewis didn't. Simple as.
I just have a feeling that there'd be loop holes with the competitive nature of F1. It sounds like something that could be implemented into a lower Formula but it doesn't sound very professional for the top level of motorsport in my opinion.
And anyway, the FIA still won't implement it. Charlie loves the SC.
