SC was necessary, it was just perfect timing for Vettel. Makes more sense blaming Caterham for the failure, than the SC in this instance.

great drives from Button and Alonso. that Ferrari had no place being that high up, it's awful.

How come LH couldn't keep up with Button? i thought Button only got the better of Lewis in mixed conditions?

@Hammer
I was thinking the same thing about Hamilton. Really, throw a smile or two...

Why be happy with third when you had pole? Id be pissed.

Me too. Especially since he didn't make a mistake, was just unlucky. His start wasn't terrible, Jenson's was just better. Lewis has nobody to be angry at but himself (for a change). Which I think is better than him being mad at another driver or the stewards.

man, awesome race. So excited for the rest of this season after the snoozer last year.

Incidentally, I think it's time to do away with this safety car BS. There has to be a better way to resume a race after a pause to retrieve a car. After working the whole race to build leads, the drivers deserve to keep them.

How about reform the grid, take off in timed I intervals of the gap you had before the race was stopped?

exactly what I was thinking (or even setting off out of the pit lane). I don't see why it would be so difficult.

Okay but what about penalties? The timing would have to be exact and I think would cause too much confusion. The safety car has always been and will continue to be the best option, in my view.

I don't see what penalties have to do with anything, nor why the timing would have to be "exact" for this to be better than the safety car. How much more exact does it need to be than down to a thousandth of a second? It could all be computerized very easily. Even if not, I'd think down to the nearest second would be sufficient.

I think tyres had a lot to do with it. Jenson has a smoother driving style thus enabling him to manage is tyres better. Lewis maintained the gap between 3-4 seconds until the pit stops so they weren't actually that far apart. Lewis getting stuck behind Perez hurt a lot because it increased the gap to around 10 seconds.

Vettel was coming to 2nd anyway, was faster on those tires.

Totally disagree. He had been close to Hamilton before the SC but just couldnt get close enough and pass LH, even with 2xDRS zones (just as LH couldnt get past SV after the SC).

So I thin LH could of held SV off, without the SC.

Because the competitive drivers would complain of it being unfair and there'd be so many loop holes. While its an understandable idea, the FIA will never implement it.

?

It's way more fair than the current system. What are the loopholes? Are there not less loopholes than with a safety car (as illustrated today)?

The were no loop holes today, just luck. Seb got lucky, Lewis didn't. Simple as.

I just have a feeling that there'd be loop holes with the competitive nature of F1. It sounds like something that could be implemented into a lower Formula but it doesn't sound very professional for the top level of motorsport in my opinion.

And anyway, the FIA still won't implement it. Charlie loves the SC.
