I find the knockout format just fine, but they should let the top ten drivers use whatever tyres they want at the start of the race instead of using the same compound from Q3, other than that its fine.

Yup, aside from a few silly tyre rules I think the 3 Session Qualifying is fantastic. Really exciting.

Of course it is!

I think a few rose-tinted spectacles need discarding. It's one of the best formats we've seen.

Back in the days we had Murray Walker and Minardi to help us while away the quiet parts of the qualifying hour.

Yup, Minardi and Dallara made life interesting for a while. I always had a bit of a soft spot for Minardi because their cars generally looked superb and were well turned out. I'd always have a smile on my face when they scored a point or two. Pierre Luigi Martini was probably their best driver ;)

Most F1 fans seem to have a nostalgic love for Minardi (myself included), they were the quiet team at the back of the grid, permanent backmarkers, stabilisers for rookies, always there but never noticed. So the keener fans noticed in the hyped up world of f1. Like West Ham :hehe:

I don't know about anyone else, but that quali session we just witnessed was bloody exciting! :)

Maybe the old myth is true after all, pace is proportional to beauty.

The F2002, F2001, MP4/25 were all fine looking cars and dominated on pace. Hopefully this stands for things to come in 2012 as well. :D

I remember Stodard running down the pit lane when Webber came in 5th shouting We have scored all the points we expected for the year so they where not coming to any more races"
