And WB summed it up nicely having a oversteery car can be done in setup work. Having more downforce in the diffuser is irrelevant to that. You don't really want a "loose" car during a high speed corner unless you're on the D1 circuit!
Well if thats the case and the changes are for the better of the car generally and to benefit both drivers equally there will be no-one more pleased than me. I was only asking. You dont have to go in to the whole fanboy routine.
It was as clear as day the intent behind the question.
End of the day diffuser downforce points won't play a major part in how Lewis sets up the car a bit oversteery. You want a car that's planted in fast corners not one that's loose. That was the whole point of blown diffusers to keep the car planted so the driver could go faster in those curves! This is where teams are trying to claw back lost downforce this season. Do you think Lewis didnt want an EBD?
The question was asked because I was worried, but i didnt want to get into all this whih is why I was vague. You know my views on Whitmarsh, and I didnt form them overnight, it developped over two seasons and is now as clear as day to me. BUT if he limits it to "lets talk about Jenson" and the odd cuddle;I can cope with that; If I think it will affect how the car gets developped then Im worried. If you're telling me this is best for both drivers, then I accept that and am pleased. Anything that makes the McLarens faster is good. Im not good at the technical stuff so dont fully understand how changes affect the car. I was suprised when I read about it because I hadnt realised that McLaren had done that to the nose, it was the first Id heard about it.
