My parents relationship began to go rocky back in '05, and it was about '08 when my father initially moved out. I was 18 at the time, and was mortified. Until then, despite recent troubles, I'd always imagined us all to be together as a family forever. They had another bash at living together and separated again in the October of last year, with my father moving into the house recently vacated by my deceased grandmother.
As soon as he departed, my mum ran off with one of my father's friends, which caused a quantity of distress and misery on my father's part. It's been an awkward situation ever since. I'm thankful I don't have to spend all my time in the midst of it all, unlike my younger brother, who still lives at home.
But, going back to my proper dad. I'm obviously more attached to him, as he has been a loving figurehead in my life since I was born.

Finally met my mother's new f!ck buddy. Seems alright. But no-one can better my PROPER dad.
That's a weird thing to say. I was not affected by divorce. Both of my parents are dead, they were relatively old when I was born. My father was 51 and my mother was 40, so I was an unexpected little bundle of joy. Please don't take offense, it's just that the comment made me think about how divorced does affect children in ways beyond most expectations, but then again, being raised in a dysfunctional or abusive marriage would also have its effect. So I guess an amicable split is the goal in a divorce.
