Don't think I do but feel free to cook up whatever theory you like.

Anyhoo to get this thread back on track and to something infinitely more interesting than manufactured drama: D’Ambrosio plans to be revealed soon

Shame if he isn't able to stay in F1. He did pretty well against Glock, just a shame it was at the back of the grid.

D'Ambrosio is one name I hope won't be forgotten. I think he showed promise and deserves a proper shot at a decent team to see what he's made of.

Your signature suggests otherwise.

My signature says Martin Whitmarsh is in love with Jenson Button. It doesnt 'suggest' there is a conspiracy about it.

Yeah but you entire thread dedicated to Whitmarsh and Button suggests otherwise.

Why dont you just come out with it and say "I want to pick a fight, let's fight!".

You must be bored huh? Forums are slow, and not many to lock horns with. Consider this 1 post donated out of pity.

Sorry but we don't need your input here. Move along, nothing to see here.

You can eat my input whenever I bloody want. Practice what you preach, don't like it, the ignore button is right there sonny. :D

Looks, Smells, Sounds, like a Whitmarsh conspiracy to me! :hehe:

Really Bud? Well how intreaging. Here was I thinking you didnt believe me about Whitmarsh and Jenson and now you say theres a whole conspiracy going on! So who else in McLaren likes a bit of Jens? Do tell.

I'm saying your whole deal about Whitmarsh is a conspiracy theory. :P

So who has conspired with who?

Yep - he was one guy who I definitely paid attention to last year. I was disappointed he was dropped.

A few times he beat Glock, and I thought he was quite consistent throughout the whole year. And looking at some of his qually times, he seemed to be very close to matching his experienced team mate (unlike some drivers in the well-established teams who are 3-tenths apart :irked: ) and even pipped Glock thrice in qualifying , and thrice when they finished the same race (although with a degree of bias - I've included Australia where D'Ambrosio finished 4 laps down, and Glock 9 laps down :hehe: ). It's interesting that Virgin never had a double-DNF. A lot of the races where Glock was out early, D'Ambrosio scored some of his and the teams best results. That shows a consistent, mature number 2 driver who has the potential to grow into a team leader.

An interesting statistic: with Virgin exiting the sport at the end of the 2011 Season, they have the record for the most ever starts without a Formula One point - 38. (Although I am sure HRT will catch up soon).

Unfortunately I doubt he will go to one of the remaining race seats, because of his lack of sponsorship. However, I think he should seriously be aiming for that Force India reserve role. I know that Renault seem to be more likely as Jerome is managed by Eric Boullier's company. But Renault seem happy with their drivers. At least Force India are known for giving their test drivers a chance to prove that they are worthy of a race seat. If Force India are not happy with either Hulkenburg or Di Resta by the end of this season, then that seat could go to D'Ambrosio in 2013.

I would also imagine that Alguersuari is vying for that test seat as well, if he is well and truly out of contention for one of the pay driver race seats. Should be interesting and more newsworthy than the two pay-driver seats. :hooli-popcorn:

I thought it was interesting reading that Alguersuari turned down the Red Bull reserve driver role. I'm pretty sure he has lost faith in Red Bull's driver development program - with deadwood such as Mark Webber still left in race seat at Red Bull, and Toro Rosso management demanding a miracle from a below-average car - what's the good in being the reserve driver for that team? He'd hardly ever get a chance of driving, unless he goes back to Friday running to put pressure on the next STR under-performer, and then he wouldn't have made any progress.

The only other Reserve-Driver roles that are worth mentioning would be Mercedes and Ferrari, with Lotus going to a Gravity-backed driver. I'm going to put up my hand and predict that Sutil will be the third driver for Ferrari next year, and will get some regular Friday practice sessions?

Caterham will likely persist with Chandhok in the reserve driver role, with perhaps Petrov ousting Trulli.

Indeed. Sadly he was in a Virgin though. I saw an interview with both drivers where Glock was very complimentary about D'Ambrosio and said that he hoped to keep working with him. Sadly, money talks louder at the back of the grid.

I know what conspiracy means. I dont know who has plotted with who. I dont know about any conspiracy.

A conspiracy theory doesn't need more than one person to be involved:

A conspiracy theory explains an event as being the result of an alleged plot by a covert group or organization or, more broadly, the idea that important political, social or economic events are the products of secret plots that are largely unknown to the general public.

Basically, a conspiracy theory is an excuse.

Well non of that stuff in the quote has anything to do with Whitmarsh having a thing for Jenson. Theres no covert group involved, no secret plots, and its not unknown to the general public, its all over all the F1 forums. So no not a conspiracy. Now if Whitmarsh was in cahoots with the engineers then you would have your conspiracy, but I dont believe he is.

All over the F1 forums eh? Name them. I've only seen it on here.

For your theory to work, Whitmarsh would have to be in cahoots with other team members so there is your conspiracy theory, which is actually a plot. Your theory is being used to explain a series of events which are the result of an alleged plot by an organisation or person who contols the said organisation, therefore it is a conspiracy theory.

Not long, it was being rumoured that Rubens Barrichello was back in the picture with regards to remaining at Williams, although the latest I've seen suggests otherwise. In this article from the BBC, Bruno Senna is in with an exceedingly good chance.

Bruno Senna has emerged as the strong favourite for the vacant seat at Williams this season.

The nephew of the late Formula 1 legend Ayrton Senna will fend off veteran Rubens Barrichello and German Adrian Sutil, insiders have told BBC Sport.

The Brazilian impressed when racing for Renault in the last eight races of 2011 and drove in 2010 for new team HRT.

A sponsorship package from Brazil is believed to have eased Senna's route into the seat, but Williams are also understood to have been impressed by the flashes of genuine promise he has showed in 2011, including an impressive seventh place on the grid for his first grand prix with Renault at the demanding Spa-Francorchamps track in Belgium.

Senna's manager Chris Goodwin refused to comment, while Williams were unavailable.

Barrichello, who will be 40 this year, had been hoping to extend his F1 career into a 20th season but it seems his hopes have been dashed despite proving in the last two seasons with Williams that he still has the ability and commitment required.

The only remaining free seat in F1 for 2012 is the second HRT alongside veteran Spaniard Pedro de la Rosa.

But Barrichello is considered unlikely to want to drive for the back-of-the-grid Spanish team.

Veteran Italian Jarno Trulli's tenure at Caterham - who raced as Lotus last year - is also believed to be insecure, but Russian Vitaly Petrov, who drove for Renault in 2010 and 2011, is tipped to get that seat.

There was support among some sections of the Williams team for Barrichello keeping the drive, on the basis that he is a proven talent and because of his renowned technical expertise.

Williams had the worst season in their history in 2011 and are in the middle of a rebuilding process, with a new technical director, chief aerodynamicist and chief engineer, and some in the team felt they could benefit from continuity of drivers and Barrichello's experience.

However, sources close to Williams say the relationship between the driver and the team's management soured over time as a result of the slide in the team's results.

Sutil, who has raced for Force India in their various guises in F1 since 2006, was the early front-runner for the final Williams seat.

But his chances have diminished since it became clear that he could face charges for an alleged nightclub assault on one of the executives of the Renault team - now Lotus - after last year's Chinese Grand Prix.

Without AT&T they'll be looking for a driver with either a huge amount of sponsorship or another pay driver. Sutil may end up being sentanced to 1 year in a Chinese prison so that would be him out of the picture.

Yeah, the fact that Sutil is standing trial for causing grievous bodily harm will severely diminish his chances.

So they'll probably end up sticking with Barrichello. Damn and blast indeed!

But Senna must have a fair bit of sponsorship too though, surely?

I'm not too sure. I remember hearing when he lost his race seat at HRT he was a light on backing.
