Don't think I do but feel free to cook up whatever theory you like.

Anyhoo to get this thread back on track and to something infinitely more interesting than manufactured drama: D’Ambrosio plans to be revealed soon
Shame if he isn't able to stay in F1. He did pretty well against Glock, just a shame it was at the back of the grid.
D'Ambrosio is one name I hope won't be forgotten. I think he showed promise and deserves a proper shot at a decent team to see what he's made of.
Yep - he was one guy who I definitely paid attention to last year. I was disappointed he was dropped.
A few times he beat Glock, and I thought he was quite consistent throughout the whole year. And looking at some of his qually times, he seemed to be very close to matching his experienced team mate (unlike some drivers in the well-established teams who are 3-tenths apart

) and even pipped Glock thrice in qualifying , and thrice when they finished the same race (although with a degree of bias - I've included Australia where D'Ambrosio finished 4 laps down, and Glock 9 laps down

). It's interesting that Virgin never had a double-DNF. A lot of the races where Glock was out early, D'Ambrosio scored some of his and the teams best results. That shows a consistent, mature number 2 driver who has the potential to grow into a team leader.
An interesting statistic: with Virgin exiting the sport at the end of the 2011 Season, they have the record for the most ever starts without a Formula One point - 38. (Although I am sure HRT will catch up soon).
Unfortunately I doubt he will go to one of the remaining race seats, because of his lack of sponsorship. However, I think he should seriously be aiming for that Force India reserve role. I know that Renault seem to be more likely as Jerome is managed by Eric Boullier's company. But Renault seem happy with their drivers. At least Force India are known for giving their test drivers a chance to prove that they are worthy of a race seat. If Force India are not happy with either Hulkenburg or Di Resta by the end of this season, then that seat could go to D'Ambrosio in 2013.
I would also imagine that Alguersuari is vying for that test seat as well, if he is well and truly out of contention for one of the pay driver race seats. Should be interesting and more newsworthy than the two pay-driver seats.

I thought it was interesting reading that Alguersuari turned down the Red Bull reserve driver role. I'm pretty sure he has lost faith in Red Bull's driver development program - with deadwood such as Mark Webber still left in race seat at Red Bull, and Toro Rosso management demanding a miracle from a below-average car - what's the good in being the reserve driver for that team? He'd hardly ever get a chance of driving, unless he goes back to Friday running to put pressure on the next STR under-performer, and then he wouldn't have made any progress.
The only other Reserve-Driver roles that are worth mentioning would be Mercedes and Ferrari, with Lotus going to a Gravity-backed driver. I'm going to put up my hand and predict that Sutil will be the third driver for Ferrari next year, and will get some regular Friday practice sessions?
Caterham will likely persist with Chandhok in the reserve driver role, with perhaps Petrov ousting Trulli.
