That cars advantage was in the aero, if it was all engine why wasn't McLaren winning from round 1?

I'd put my last dollar Brawn still would have blitzed the field in Australia if they were Honda. In fact if they were still Honda they would have had the budget to develop the car through the season unlike with Brawn who fell backwards as the season went on.

Agreed. As far as I'm concerned, Brawn could've used Cosworths and still won the WDC in that car. The double diffuser+aero combination set the Brawns a world apart from the rest, the engine was insignificant at this point.

So what is McLaren's plan? They're loosing a lot of high level engineers and designers to Ferari, being luered away by Pat Fry (hope they didnt photocopy any pictures before they went :twisted: ).
They're buying back shares from mercedes but dont appear to be moving forward on their own in house engine.
Do they have something up their sleeve or are they in a spot of bother?

In the link it reads;
The change of engine regulations, which is now programmed for the start of 2014 when a new formula will begin with the 2.4-litre V8 engines of today being replaced by 1.6 litre V6 turbos, with energy recovery systems and fuel flow restrictions.

I thought it was supposed to be 2.0 liter V6 turbo?!?!

^^ yeah, I probably pulled it out my @ss convincing myself since it was the mid point between 1.6 and 2.4 and 4 cylinders versus eight.

The engines are not going to be made of rubbish!

They are going to be 1.6 litre turbos.

If you colonials are going to speak English, you'd be as well spell things in English. It's litre!

Problem is, that's the French spelling, so your British English is quite foufou :P

It would still be pronounced litter albeit spelt wrong.

The French spelling that is also the English spelling from which the American version would be derived from so the American spelling is wrong!
