Our summers are not crap, it's just a British thing to always moan about the weather even when there is nothing wrong with it.

Depends on your perspective. If you like mostly cold, damp, grey rain. Then you're right, there's nothing to moan about.

Although winters used to be much colder. There were once markets held on the River Thames, when the river completely froze over. Can't do that these days....

I certainly have no complaints. There were some days last summer when it was just TOO hot.

Also, I went to Spain in '05 and found the high temperatures unbearable. The beach burned my feet. Thus, I'm more than satisfied with summers in Blighty.

I had quite a few days on the beaches round here in me shorts getting sunburnt and dehydrated. Anything over 23 degrees is unnecessarily hot.

While I agree in principle to some of those articles, at least two of them reek of anti-censored (<-really, censored?) bias.

You can get Vitamin D through diet if you don't get enough sun.

Yes you can take supplements , but a lot of people avoid the sun and dont realise they are deficient in that vitamin. There are LOADS of health risks.

Well when talking of a road cars efficiency they talk of liters of fuel per 100km I'd assume it be the same measure.

An F1 car only gets something like 5mpg, pushing it through the air at 200mph takes a lot of energy, so when they talk of efficiency in the engine they're meaning how much of the energy stored in the fuel is converted to useful mechanical energy. I think normal combustion engines are maybe around 30% with more than half the energy from the fuel being lost as heat.

EDIT: according to the wiki an F1 car gets 3.1 US mpg, 3.8 UK mpg, 1.3 km/l

What's different in the US? a mile, a gallon, or do we just drive more economically in the UK?

The US gallon is 3.78541 liters and the UK gallon, also known as the imperial gallon is 4.54609 liters.
The mile is the same in the US and UK: 1609 m.
