I guess I'm one of the few who actually like the DRS....DRS separates the fast cars from the slow ones...It will also prevent what happened in last year's final race from happening again(alonso not being able to overtake a supposedly slower petrov)...

It also made the races on some boring tracks exciting....

Why? I enjoyed that race simply due to that situation. :D

I believe that the only way you can get more overtaking without DRS and the new tires is to take some huge steps backwards with technology.

Bring back plain and simple steel brakes.

Bet rid of all that fancy suspension stuff. Linear springs and shocks only.

Very few aero components. No bargeboards, make the wings a lot simpler in design by forcing them to have the same cross-section from one end to the other.

etc.

But then, it would no longer be even close to the pinnacle of technology in racing that it is called today (even though I personally think that title goes to the LMP1 class at Le Mans).

And it would probably not be as safe as it is now.

Take F1 back to basics, no fragile tyres, no DRS, no KERS and no ridiculous tyre usage reg's.

:yes:

I just about prefer last year's so called boring Bridgestone tyres than this years Pirelli, The Pirelli's seem to suit certain drivers because they nurse them better and other reasons where as the Bridgestone's seem to suit nearly every driver and the drivers don't have to worry about nursing them and there for they just drive hard and push on. The 2010 season was much more exciting than 2011 even with the KERS, DRS and fragile Pirelli's, Anyway back on topic with DRS, It either doesn't work at some tracks or we see easy boring overtakes. Get rid of DRS or let the drivers use it whenever they want in the races.

How come? Although in 2010 we had a championship fight, most of the races were downright terrible.

I guess it's artificial so while there is more overtaking part of the spectacle of overtaking is taken away because it's been made easy.

A DRS overtake will never go down in history as being a memorable one.

I also preferred the Bridgestone tyres, I like to see drivers pushing the limit lap after lap. Andrew's formula works for me.

As for 2010, seriously bro? :eek:

The competition was intense, so the races were too.

Have to agree with you guys. Lots of false overtaking this year. I prefered less but genuine ones. And guys racing hard and fast not going round saving tyres.

The best thing about 2010 was how close it was in the championship between drivers from Red Bull, McLaren and Ferrari. That was very exciting, and kept everyone on their toes until the very end. Sadly, we lacked that this season, but that's F1... it happens.

As for quality of racing, I disagree that most of the races were "downright terrible" in 2010, far from it. Although crazy races like the Chinese GP this season would only have happened in 2010 if rain had fallen. Now come on guys, you're not all saying that you didn't frigging love the Chinese GP? Or the German or Canadian Grands Prix? Even Barcelona wasn't the utter borefest it usually is this time round! Many positives can still be drawn.

Don't let the fact that the latter few races were dull blur the memories of the tremendously exciting Grands Prix we've enjoyed this season. They weren't in the minority. :nono:

Singapore 2010 was the most boring race I have ever watched. Hockenheim and Hungary followed suit. Silverstone I'm not sure, but I think it was nothing to write home about either. And that's not even mentioning the crown's jewels when it comes to crap races (Bahrain, Barcelona, Valencia and Abu Dhabi). Most of those races were damn processions, they even had to send the Red Bulls flying to try and keep us amused :hehe: The only race I recall being better last year was Spa.

You must have missed the Bahrain GP of that year then...

They weren't mostly processions. And any time a driver or car did dominate, it was often a different one to the previous couple of races.

You must have loved that 2001-2004 era :wink:

False advantages whilst giving a quick fix dont remain in the heart like real racing does.

Once the zones have been tweaked next season it'll perform as intended - a solution to the dirty air problem. People seem to forget that point, it was never intended as a push to pass button! While it's not perfect it's all we have and i'd rather have that than BS processions with maybe a handful of passing opportunities a race.

Aside from that i do like the technical aspect of it in how teams can use an maximise it's use for one lap performance, adds a great variable and a nice potential area for innovation. Red Bull's quali pace this year wasn't all from the brilliant blown diffuser system they have....

As I've been saying!!! :clap:

Goodness gracious, people can't seem to grasp that 2011 was all about seeing how best to make it work. It was a LEARNING year.

Have we all forgotten season after season of whining, crying and moaning that;

* races had turned into processions?
* no overtaking?
* cars get stuck in dirty air and the battle is f***ed?

And now people are firing on a pair of rose tinted specs and saying that pre-DRS were the frigging good old days!!!!!! Good old days my ARSE. Everyone did nothing but complain. Some people exist to moan I think. :thumbdown::director:

Well yes, me too. I have them on DVD. And I will have THESE races from 2011 on DVD as well. I'm just not going to sit there and cry myself into illness, simply because the drivers are enable to tackle the dirty air problem easier. :rolleyes:
