A driver from the USA would really get them going. I remember at Indianapolis in '06, there was lots of great support for Scott Speed. Unfortunately, he was involved in a half-field pile-up at Turn 1, and didn't last much longer in the sport...

True that, but you can't cut an F1 driver from whole cloth. If they are to have any prospect, young American racing drivers must have some means of gaining like experience. If F1 want to shore up their market in the US, they need either to extend more effort promoting the Americans to establish a feeder series or enticing Young Americans to move to Europe to drive in GP2/GP3. It bears mentioning that Phil Hill packed up, lock, stock and bicycle, and moved from the USA to England so he could develop into an F1 racer.

As an American I'm excited. I just hope turnout is good. We are a nation that likes going in circles for some odd reason. I just wish that one of the races was in southern california but that is purly for selfish reasons since that's where I live. What I don't understand is why do they race in Korea? Unless I missed something it seemed like the stands were only half full.

8-) A race with the Manhatten skyline as a backdrop. Amazing. They are saying it will be like Spa with a Monaco feel. What could be better? I'm drooling...

It was great race in Korea, and was glad to see more fans on race day than at qualifying. But with so many grandstands virtually empty why does Bernie insist on having grand prix in these places when it means tracks are built 5 hours away from the nearest city? His obsession with taking F1 to different places often translates to a lack of passion and atmosphere. Racing in Korea - Seouless...
Hopefully this won't be the same in the US.

ha! Hopefully we will lose Valencia altogether now.

Yeah, well I think its good for F1 to try and establish themselves in the US in a much bigger way. It would be great for my team, Ferrari, as it is their biggest market. And the US has proven in the past they will come watch F1 (as long as we don't chicken it up!).

Although I'm not a street circuit fan, I'd be willing to give it a go and see if they can make a great race of it.

Look at the races in Istanbul Park, Shaghai and Bahrain... it's the same there. The Asians haven't fully cottoned onto F1 yet. Some places, like Singapore, Malaysia and Japan do well, but the rest stage races with empty grandstands, and it's not good to see. :nono:
