And in answer to your first point the reason I think its a biggie is not because Felippe was instructed to protect Alonso(pathetic as that is) It was becuse he was instructed to destroy anothr drivers race.

So it was a team order. No rules against those anymore as long as a driver isn't instructed to do anything that'll endanger anyone else like pitch their car into a spin so that their team mate can win the race.

So what if Massa was instructed to help Alonso? It's his job as the number 2 driver to help the number 1 driver. All teams do it! Part of Smedley's role is to help motivate his driver. What is going to motivate a person more? Telling them to destroy an opponents race or asking them politely if they wouldn't mind in being a stout fellow and holding up the other chap?

Mountain out of a molehill is all it is. Would you be having the same amount of hysteria if Smedley had said to Massa "hold up Hmailton"? I doubt it even though it means the same thing. As Denthúl said, you are focussing too much on the word destroy.

These radio tranmissions can be heard by anyone on the pitwall so it is hardly surprising if a bit of fighting talk is slipped in to annoy the opposition. Just posturing and games is all it is. It's being taken far too literally just because an aggressive word was used.

Masses engineer should be concerned about Massa. The only race Ferrari really destroy every race is Massa's in treating him like a bitch.

:yes::hehe:
I understand now the fuss Massa made after the race. Methinks the boy protests too much.. :scratchchin: I wonder if he breaked just a little harder as hamilton tucked back in. You know really trying to be the good Ferrari emplyee, follow his instructions to the T...Then he remembered the radio message, thinks.."OH POO!" Better get all indignant about this.

Rob Smedley is a bit of an idiot who doesn't realize his comments have a high chance of being aired. This is the second time he's got in trouble thanks to his stupid choice of words.

I don't see anything wrong with his command (as Felipe Baby needs all the motivation and support he can get) but he needs to be a bit smarter in his choice of words through the radio.

- The article forbidding team orders (39.1) is deleted. Teams will be reminded that any actions liable to bring the sport into disrepute are dealt with under Article 151c of the International Sporting Code and any other relevant provisions
ISC 151c

151. Breach of rules
Any of the following offences in addition to any offences
specifically referred to previously, shall be deemed to be a breach
of these rules :
a) All bribery or attempt, directly or indirectly, to bribe any
person having official duties in relation to a competition or
being employed in any manner in connection with a
competition and the acceptance of, or offer to accept, any
bribe by such an official or employee.
b) Any action having as its object the entry or participation
in a competition of an automobile known to be ineligible
therefor.
c) Any fraudulent conduct or any act prejudicial to the
interests of any competition or to the interests of motor
sport generally.

Still a grey area Andrew. To be used as and when the FIA deam the actionto be in contavention of point 151c

But it is a team sport, as people keep pointing out (although conveniently only when it suits them...they know who they are). The team should be concerned about the best result for Ferrari. 4th and 6th would have been better than 5th and 6th; it didn't look like Massa had the pace to get any further. I didn't see anyone bat an eyelid when the team instructed Sutil to move aside for di Resta to better their overall result.

Ultimately it will be frustrating for Felipe and I don't like to see that frequently he seems get the raw end of the deal, but at the end of the day, Ferrari are acting in the interests of the team result. The drivers' championship is over now, so there's really only the runner-up places in that and the WCC to fight for.

From the team pont of view Ferrari should be concentrating on getting maximum points for Massa and trying to overhaul the TEAM McLaren in the constructors and securing second place for the TEAM Ferrari. Instead of massaging Alonso's ego and helping him beat his nemesis in the drivers championship, which is already won by Vettel.

Honestly, lots of comments here are reading like 'boo hoo Hamilton's race went bad, let's all make Massa the scapegoat and make ourselves feel better'. IMHO. People are forgetting that Hamilton directly destroyed Massa's race, yet they feel that an innoccuous comment regarding a legitimate racing tactic is the thing that is out of order. Just makes funny reading.

Don't confuse this with me condoning Massa being a prick after the race, btw. :hehe:

I'm with you on this one Scotty. I'm not put off in the slightest by Ferrari employing a legitimate race tactic, it's simply hypocritical at best on the part of Massa to have such a display post race, he made his bed. However when you take the event in it's entirety, it's difficult to justify the comments that Hamilton was the one that ruined Massa's race.

Yes. I think this is the point.
