I just read the latest peice of garbage this guy spouted off. Blasting jenson button? What did irvine ever really accomplish?

Exactly. A few wins for Ferrari while under the iron-grip of the much more dominant Michael Schumacher.

I believe Mercedes C class cars have adopted their own KERS system from when i watched a video of Lauda and Hamilton driving one together.

I don't think Irvine could keep up with Schumacher. He had to wait until Schumacher broke his leg and even had to get Salo & Schumacher to let him win on a couple occasions. He could have won the championship in 99 but couldn't keep up with Schumacher and Hakkinen who scampered off into the distance at a great rate of knots.

He's quite big in property and has been since before his F1 days so he's got a few quid floating about.

Audi were the first car manufacturer (I think) to have a KERS like system on some of their top end road cars a couple years ago.

on that point what has trickled down from F1 to road cars recently?

Whatever you see on F1 now has been trickled down to road cars... For instance better monocoque construction, better brake cooling strategies and materials, improved engine mapping for efficiency, improved crash saftey.... you name it and it most likely came from F1.... 90% of the time F1 is the test bed for all motorsport performance on 4 wheels besides drag racing!!! :)

I mean if this was nigell mansel or prost blasting jenson, I'd have a bit more respect, though my repsect for THEM would go down as that's a shitty way to behave in public.

JENSON RESPONDS!!!

Jenson Button has hit back at Eddie Irvine after the former Ferrari driver this week criticised the McLaren driver as "the best number two" in Formula 1. "Why is Eddie still taking about Formula 1? Is he missing it? It's very sweet, though," said Button. "All I can say is that it was fun winning the World Championship, and I hope to do it again."

Good one Jenson!

Monocoque construction was pioneered in aircraft, with early designs appearing circa 1916, and entered wide use in the 1930s. Automobiles used monocoque designs as early as 1923 but widespread adoption did not begin until the second half of the 20th century. Today, a welded unit body is the predominant automobile construction technique. Monocoque designs also appear in motorcycles, boat hulls and architecture.

,

The first development of the modern ceramic brake was made by British engineers working in the railway industry for TGV applications in 1988. The objective was to reduce weight, the number of brakes per axle, as well as provide stable friction from very high speeds and all temperatures. The result was a carbon fibre reinforced ceramic process which is now used in various forms for automotive, railway, and aircraft brake applications.

Optimising engine combustion strategies:
Optimising engine running temperature by electronic control of the cooling system
Stratified Charge combustion
Lean burn combustion
HCCI (Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition) combustion
Variable valve timing
Supercharging or twincharging (when coupled with a downsized engine)
Turbocharged Direct Injection diesel engines
Gasoline direct injection petrol engines
Common Rail diesel engines
Variable geometry turbocharging

does F1 uses all of them
