Never understood people who claim to have 2 nationalities. Your nationality is where you are born as far as I am concerned. Heck, I could move to Australia, get an Australian passport and all that, but I'd still say I was Scottish (just don't want to live in this cold crumbling and bankrupt nation 
) until the day when I kick the bucket.
It is actually what your parents are. Although this is not relevent to me. However with parents it is mostly the case. If both parents for example are Italian and the child happens to be born in Japan, the child will not be Japanese. For starters the Japanese govt will not give that child a citzenship because one parent would then have to be at least Japanese. This is the fact in most countries. It doesn't matter where you are born. There are also (in the case of Italy) many people from Africa born there. They have to wait until 18 to get a citzenship (and if they are lucky will get it). I know Australians who are Italian of ancestry who got automatically Italian citizenships because at least one parent was Italian when they were born which makes them Italian automatically at birth.
In my case I lived in Italy for most of my life, went to school there and speak Italian as a first language and preferred language. Not Slovene or even Croatian. (My mother is Croat and father Slovene). However my mother holds an Italian citizenship as well as her father my grandfather was Italian, so it means one of my parents were italian on paper when I was born. Although these days I know of people who get Italian citzenships through just grand parents having that citzenship. Either way I am who I am and no one knows me better than me. I feel mostly Italian because that is where I grew up and that is the culture I learnt. To tell me otherwise against my wishes is pure discrimatory.
