I feel the same way about Ferrari and their bandwagon fans :hehe:

Who your Italian friends. They are not bandwagon supporters. They are REAL Italians supporting their team just like me. :-)

Aren't you from [s]Slovenia[/s] Slovenija?

bud has answered it for me. :-) (post after yours) Thankyou bud. :wavey:

My nationality is both Italian and Slovene as a result Joey.

To be fair, you can tell whether someones a Man Utd fan pretty easily, they dont have a Manchester accent.

The Status Quo is that if your from Manchester, you support Man City.

Secondly, im interested in knowing your reasoning AKR behind supporting Chelsea, a very successful club that has seemingly no connection to you at all, and yet your not a glory hunter? just a question.

Im about 5 minutes from Tottenham and thats who i support. Nobody else, especially not Arsenal, those shitbags.

I'm sure ive answered this before. I seek no glory because that can be found in the serie a clubs I support (since I wish them all success in Europe except Inter). I support Chelsea in the epl because started getting interested in the league in the mid 90s and also the language (I'm a linguist and at the time couldnt yet speak English). I chose Chelsea because it's where Italian players like Zola and Vialli went. Because of the heavy Italian presence at the time I chose Chelsea. Because one cannot change teams, in the epl I have supported them since. Now is that good enough reason for you?

Btw in comparison to Man Utd, Arsenal and Liverpool, Chelsea are less successful, regardless if Chelsea in the last 6 or so years have been better than the latter 2.

No need to get bitchy Kiki i only ask a question.

It wasn't my intention (to get bitchy). Appologies. :)

Never understood people who claim to have 2 nationalities. Your nationality is where you are born as far as I am concerned. Heck, I could move to Australia, get an Australian passport and all that, but I'd still say I was Scottish (just don't want to live in this cold crumbling and bankrupt nation :hehe: ) until the day when I kick the bucket.

Just my thoughts on the matter. :D

It is actually what your parents are. Although this is not relevent to me. However with parents it is mostly the case. If both parents for example are Italian and the child happens to be born in Japan, the child will not be Japanese. For starters the Japanese govt will not give that child a citzenship because one parent would then have to be at least Japanese. This is the fact in most countries. It doesn't matter where you are born. There are also (in the case of Italy) many people from Africa born there. They have to wait until 18 to get a citzenship (and if they are lucky will get it). I know Australians who are Italian of ancestry who got automatically Italian citizenships because at least one parent was Italian when they were born which makes them Italian automatically at birth.

In my case I lived in Italy for most of my life, went to school there and speak Italian as a first language and preferred language. Not Slovene or even Croatian. (My mother is Croat and father Slovene). However my mother holds an Italian citizenship as well as her father my grandfather was Italian, so it means one of my parents were italian on paper when I was born. Although these days I know of people who get Italian citzenships through just grand parents having that citzenship. Either way I am who I am and no one knows me better than me. I feel mostly Italian because that is where I grew up and that is the culture I learnt. To tell me otherwise against my wishes is pure discrimatory.

I dont know kiki im pretty sure if your born somewhere you have a right to that citizenship regardless of your parents nationality, might be wrong but im sure its the case world wide.

I dont just mean "have the right" i mean they will class you as a Japanese citizen if your born in Japan. Might just be here, if your born here in the UK your a citizen should you wish to be.

So I'm discrimating against you because my idea on which country I belong to is different to yours?!

Like I said, it's my own opinion, not gospel truth (probably accuse me of blasphemy now). I was born in Scotland, have a Scottish accents and am a dour crater who doesn't like to spend money - pretty obvious what my nationality is and always will be. :hehe:

depends the country. I know westerners who live in Japan and over there they are strict. One parent must be at least Japanese. In Australia it never used to matter. Ie if you were born there you could have Australian but still automatically the one of your parents, thus why many Aussies are duel citizens. But I think Australian has become stricker where if one parent isn't Australian that the child will have to wait until 18. I could be wrong here. In Italy however this is the case. But one must also consider that situations and circumstances may vary from person to person.

You basically said to me that I am not a true Italian. You may not have worded it directly but what you wrote means that, and to me that is offensive. Eitherway I will assume you didn't know. This means I will let it slide, this means be wise and just drop it because I will seriously crack it otherwise.

No I didn't. I said that I have never understood the 2 nationality thing and I personaly consider myself to belong to the country that I was born into (thus the as far as I am concerned part of my comment). I think you misunderstood but I'll let that slide as I am not so much with the words at times.

Ok let's drop all this. Not even sure what started it. This is the footy thread. Lets go back to that. Mid week serie A round this week. I hope Juve keep their winning form.

Nah, it's just a simple misunderstanding.

Germany is one of the few exceptions - their citizenship right is not based on the place where one is born, but on blood kinship.
