Well, Vettel has 2 titles. So how many more will he get before haters stop?
I'm starting to realise that haters will never go away - hence my tainted view of Schumacher when I started following F1. However, when I read about him and watch footage of Schumacher, I am more and more convinced that he is (one of) the greatest ever drivers. Like I wrote earlier with a little bit of bias, both Vettel and Webber crashed heaps last year. This year they both haven't (until Monza). I'm attributing that to the car.
Vettel get pole, Webber gets fifth - when is he going to get any credit.
This is the thread for fan-boyism so I'll continue (even though I should probably stop for fear I will detract from the nice compliments from Ferrari and Mclaren fans earlier). There was an interesting comment that Vettel made at the end of the press conference. Red Bull have supported him since he was 12 years old. They invested a lot into him, and he is repaying them with MULTIPLE world championships. He is doing the best he could possible do for a team that has showed such faith in him from a young age. But also his technical abiltity - working with his engineers on the car setup over the weekend - surely that HAS to account for something - right? Or is it really all Newey?
The evidence is there - Webber is often slower than McLaren and Ferrari, yet Vettel is faster than them? Other than the conspiracy that Vettel has a different car which is bollocks - we can see evidence of Vettel's input into a race win. If it was all Newey - then Vettel and Webber would consistantly be getting 1-2's. But the 1-2's are few and far between. Vettel makes strategy calls and reads races well. He
had to overtake Alonso to win - but I kind of wish he did it a little later in the DRS zone.
The haters will continue - they continued after one man won an unprecedented 7 titles. Vettel has driven in a midfield team AND WON, he has proven that he can overtake, and he has proven that he can keep his cool, he can be consistent lap after lap - what the fluff does everyone want him to be able to do next? He can't do anything else that he hasn't already done. What people expect him to just walk out of a winning team and go back to a midfield team? Are you serious?
Once again - Schumacher did just that when he switched from a Championship Team to a Ferrari team in dire straights - but the haters are still there. So what's the chance that the hating will continue if Seb does the same and battles around in Ferrari for 5 years and then starts to win titles with them? What about if he beats Alonso? Will the critics say that Alonso is obviously past it? We could give Rosberg a lot more credit than what he is due, instead of saying Schumacher is past it. Since Canada though I've believed Schumacher is back. His qualifying is still not-so-good, but we actually haven't seen the Mercedes pair have an incident-free race since probably Spain to compare them. Next year I think we will see Schumacher on the podium. The same thing that happened to Vettel last year is happening to Schumacher. Eddie based his opinion on what? All of Schumachers starts to a race since Canada have been very promising - he's just made a few clumsy mistakes.
Part of the greatest qualities about championship-winning drivers is there ability to ignore the media and the haters and just put there head down and continue to do their best. Seb did that last year. Schumacher just has got to do the same thing. I think he is great form. If no one else can see it - who cares? Schumacher doesn't listen to criticism. He knows he still has what it takes to win races. You can see that in his determination and driving of late. His smile has returned. No one else can see it? I reckon his team members also have the same feeling.
It justs goes to show - and I do the same thing as well - Formula One fandom is all about bias and drawing conclusions from IF's and BUT's. At the end of the day we should all form our own opinion based on what we feel is right. Like my new opinion is Schumacher is back and Button is a lot better than what I used to give him credit for.
Come on Schumi - get a podium or even a race win before the end of the season!
