I'm starting to think though that innovation is not necessarily good for F1. Drivers will find it hard to get any credit for winning championships, as we're kind of seeing now.
What you say is somewhat true, but, over time, their record will speak for itself. Also, its definitely not Red Bulls fault they are dominant. They have achieved that by providing the budget necessary and being the most innovative team. Red Bull has raised the bar and other teams have to try and match and pass it.
LDM is the only one vocal about this, bringing it up during press interviews isn't going to make it happen. Either actively take the proposal to FOTA or shut up.
Seems to ke his motives are Ferrari based and not F1 based.
A little harsh on LDM perhaps. Ferrari need a strong and successful F1. It is their success at F1 has driven Ferrari's corporate success. Remember LDM also is encouraging Porsche to join F1. He knows they will produce a competitive car that could beat Ferrari, but he also knows that having a marquee name like Porsche in F1 will do many time more good things than a "mom & pop" team of unknowns. So, whilst LDM will do what he thinks is best for Ferrari (which should come as no surprise as he is the head of Ferrari) he has to also make sure that the one competition that Ferrari 100% commits to also grows.
I'm really sure LDM has an eye on the US every time he talks about 3rd cars, and that surely is a market where F1 can make great in-roads. I sure he believes both Ferrari and F1 would benefit from 3rd Ferrari in the hands of a US team with a young American driver.
