some of those venues are poo!!!!!
agreed.
get rid of India, Korea,
WTF????
We haven't even SEEN a race in India, how can you make that call?
As for Korea, the ONE RACE we've seen there was excellent!
What are you talking about?
easy. my comment wasnt regarding the track, but the location. India having a GP at the expense of countries like France and Austria is a joke.
Why is it a joke? There's huge potential for growth for an F1 fanbase there. Austria/France is like a dot on the map in comparison.
England and Italy are also dots on the map in comparison to India. Now you wouldn't dare take away a GP from either of those countries. F1 is a European based sport. Americans, Australians, South Americans and the Japanese can also be considered racing nations since they have been in F1 for a long time. Also with the exception of Sth America, all nations outside of Europe mentioned build cars, and now including South America again, all listed countries have descent motor racing championships other than F1 and can be considered motorracing nations. Most European countries fall into this catergory as well. Now who the hell are India, the Middle Eastern countries again? Th real F1 calendar should feature countries like Austria and France and even Argentina. But no idiot Eccolstone wants his 3rd world countries who have no idea about motorsport. Next victim I bet will be Australia and with it another great GP lost to some country where the people have never even heard of F1.
Like it or not, the countries you've put down so 'valiantly' in your post are the ones with the $$$$$.
3rd world countries by infrastructure, but compare the growth and economies of scale and you have a completely different picture. F1 isn't cheap. Your beloved Ferrari are one of the biggest spendthrifts on the planet along with the other teams in F1, and they need a cash pump to keep their spendthrift natures on a high. This cash comes from the fans. Now, fans need to spend money to get this cycle going and guess what? Your 1st world countries are not providing this very basic requirement, the OXYGEN which F1 is currently almost lacking. And, like it or not, things have to evolve to survive and this change we see is the evolution of F1, to shift slightly from its HQ (as you say Europe) but not necessarily abandon it. And there's nothing wrong with that, interest is not born into people its cultivated.
Without the '3rd world countries with no racing pedigree', you can sooner or later say goodbye to beloved Ferrari, they, along with the other teams will have to pack up and you can play reruns of Austria 2002, USA 2004 and relive those sweet memories again because there won't be anymore LIVE races to watch.
Lesson over.
