That is a good point MOA, does this include DC and Brundle, or just the ones you disagree with?

Slight difference between two people who are paid to commentate on the sport and ex drivers passing judgement on drivers of today... what Lewis did to Kamui is effectively what Jenson did to Lewis in Canada, it's a case of one driver being in the blind spot of another driver; I'm sure neither driver would have wanted contact; the risk of terminal damage is too great!

My opinion is that if these ex-drivers don't like what they see in modern F1; turn off the television and stop attending races, they use their famous names to spread their propaganda!

So what should they do when they are asked their opinion? It's much the same as us lot sitting in front of our computers discussing, arguing and passing judgement, only we're not famous mutli-millionaires or on TV.

Its not the same. We dont put out our half baked thoughts and ideas to millions of TV viewers.

True, just millions of internet users. That's actually quite a scary thought.

Either way, the guy was put on the spot and gave an answer. Lauda speaks his mind it seems so he's always going to ruffle a few feathers.

What Lauda said was words of a three time world champion, itd be nice if people had some respect really......

" Hamilton is one of the best drivers, hed be better if he didnt make these stupid mistakes"

JESUS H CHRIST LAUDA YOU FRIKKIN MADMAN!!!! SOMEBODY GET THIS MAN A STRAIGHT JACKET HES GOING F***ING MAD!!!!!!

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

You dont need to over react. Being a three time world champion does not give him the right to begin a sentence saying Lewis is a good driver and then proceed to pile on the criticism. He began with the praise because of the lambasting he received last time he had a go at lewis. If you want to hear what very large numbers of people think of Lauda's ill chosen comments you should have been at the Silverstone post race party.

Here are Lauda's comments after China when Jenson pulled right to take the racing line for a left turn and put lewis in the wall. Pretty much a carbon copy of lewis and Kobi but this time Lewis is the driver on the outside.
"What Hamilton did there goes beyond all boundaries," Lauda said during his commentary on RTL television. "He is completely mad.

"If the FIA does not punish him, I do not understand the world any more. At some point there has to be an end to all the jokes. You cannot drive like this - as it will result in someone getting killed."

So which is it Mr. Lauda? Was Lewis completely mad for trying to go round the outside of jenson or was he completely mad for pulling right when Kobi was going round the outside of him?
Or is it you just dont like lewis hamilton. Well thats fine. But keep your opinions to yourself since thay are so obviously biased and not objective.

Not really a great indication though, given that that was at Silverstone and all...

And FYI those comments were from after Canada. Along a straight, and in the soaking wet weather where there would have been zero visibility in Button's mirrors, might i add. Comments that were echoed by Emmo Fittipaldi - another hater i guess?

I've always found Laudas comments to be bang on most of the time, even if I don't like them.

I think what riles people is that he doesn't beat about the bush. He just comes out with it. Sort of, here's what I think, like it or hate it, I don't care. My kind of person!

To be fair, all Lauda is offering is constructive critism. It's the only way you learn, to hear what you're not doing right. Often it is an ugly truth you don't want to hear but you do need to hear it.

You call what he said at Canada constructive criticism  you're a real laugh mate, Stephen should pay you to be forumula1s resident comedian!
But yeah the ugly truth given his comments from Canada suggesting Lewis is a mad man driving to crash into people deliberately and trying to kill. But while lauda said that, every other great, past or present saw it as a racing incident in tricky conditions. Laudas comments were rash and uncalled for and if anything show a real hatred for Lewis.
Again nothing constructive about calling someone a mad man on a path to kill.

Do you know such an interesting fact?
To begin with, every racer’s name is an abbreviation on the TV-screen: ALO, MAS, KOB, KOV, ETC.
Lewis has an abbr. HAM. If we transliterate these letters into Ukrainian language (from Roman letters to Cyrillic ones), we will get the word «хам», which means bounder, lout.
So, do you believe it’s a coincidence? :-)
and sorry for my english

If we translate it into ancient Norse it means "f****** awesome" what's your point?

I know those comments were from Canada. Following an incident where Lewis was in a position that Kobi was in at Spa. The Canada incident was deemed a racing accident and Jenson apologised for it. Yet your sayng that its ok for lauda to say lewis needs penalising by the FIA , is mad, will kill someone???? Fot that incident?
And now at Spa, another racing incident according to the stewrads, and we have a miraculous change around and its Lewis fault for being in the position Jenson was at Spa. Nah the man has issues with Lewis and its not his drivinig.

You think so? You think he really wants lewis to calm down for the safety of all? So you would imagine he would have been critical of Schumachers driving then, since he was a very aggresive driver involved in many controversial and deliberately dangerous acts. Not a bit of it. he defended him.

"The problem today is television," said Lauda. "The TV coverage is done so well, there are so many cameras now, you can see what everybody is doing.

"In my day we used to hit each other off the road but if somebody complained afterwards, we'd just say, 'I don't know what happened'. Now you cannot really do that.

"What Schumacher did and what Coulthard did was just human reaction and I can fully understand it.

"If you are on pole position and make a bad start you think you'd better move over to defend your position.

"People complained but it is part of the show of Formula One and I don't think that FIA should interfere.

"If they do and make things more strict then in the end there will be less action and the sport will get more boring."

There, thats what the two faced hypocrite had to say about Schumacher's aggresive driving. Oh hang on, Schumachers German.

Who cares about what Lauda said anyway, he's a freakin lunatic.

Do you guys remember what he did while being TEAM BOSS in Jaguar Racing? He blasted both his drivers (Irvine and another guy, cant recall) for not giving good enough feedback about the car, and asked himself to be strapped in during one of the test sessions, went out on track and spun the thing around twice and barely made 1 lap with the car.

That team never had a chance in hell to succeed when the village idiot was the team boss....and no one cares what this guy says anyway. Just because he's a former WDC doesn't mean his head is at the right place now does it.

People like andrew would love him since he's just looking for anyone who'd rat on Lewis. No surprise there really, people like that can't be helped either. :hehe:

If that was the actual quote I can 100% agree with Lauda, it mirrors my thoughts on him.
He is no doubt a great driver and has the support package to back him up but he does get involved in a lot of rookie mistakes that he really shouldn't be making.

Ooops can I say that? Can I really give him praise then constructive criticism....... Lol
