^^^Signs is amazing and could easily have been in my top 10 except I was trying to limit one film per director. I love Shyamalan's films.

 Only recently found out the village, devil and sixth sense are all his creations, his a modern master of suspense if you ask me.....

:yikes: He's a bit of an internet joke. Sixth sense and Signs were great, but it went downhill from there.......

He had a film called Devil last year, it was about 62 minutes long, but it was great, 5 people in an elevator one is the devil in human form, the backdrop is a nightime/storm gotham city (in say 2008 batman film) gothic feel to it, and in this elevator one by one people die as the lights go off, leaving two left at knifepoint convinced the other is the devil, anyway lights go out again and the woman left is dead, one is left, he sobs on the floor crying and in possibly the scariest film moment ive seen in my life or creepiest rather the old woman who died right as the start rises up from the floor from a still camera pan, i shat my panties i tell ya.

No, just don't find the prospect of 62 minutes of lift footage an entertaining prospect.

Hm, have you ever seen Lifeboat (1944)? Great Hitchcock movie that plays exclusively on a small lifeboat.
And you may know that Hitchcock always made brief (non speaking) cameos in his movies, sometimes it was just his characteristic shadow passing by that you could see. Trivia quiz: how did he manage to do that in this movie that has only the lifeboat going?

I've not seen Lifeboat, been in one, seen one but not seen the film of the same name.

Was he dressed as a passing seal? Nah, he was in a photo on a newspaper according to Wikipedia.

I've never had cause to try it but I guess it is better than wearing one of DD nappy pad things.

I'll admit that I saw most of a Harry Potter film a couple weeks ago. I missed the start but the plot wasn't exactly difficult to work out. As I suspected, it was utter tosh!

I think you've got to have read the books to really appreciate the films. As a young boy, I adored the books, they really got me into reading. To see J. K. Rowling's great imagination and characters brought to life in those films by such amazing actors and directors was magical. Love the films a lot. :cloud9:

Thought Shutter Island was great but admit that may have had something to do with my own state of mind at the time, love (most) Tarantino films, Shawshank Redemption is also a favourite.

The film Whistle Down the Wind is set in my dear old Lancashire. The film is alright, but the little boy (character's called Charley I think) really makes the whole film. His innocence and honesty are so beautiful and hilarious, he basically steals the whole spotlight. :)

Young Frankenstien has it all. It's atmospheric, funny, romantic, action, horror and even has the 2 main actors trying not to laugh at one point. What more do you want from a film? Maybe a good sound track, so in that case watch the Blues Brothers - best soundtrack ever past, present and future.

Films likes and dislikes are probably more personal than even books, but I really don't like House of Flying Daggers, it's superficial to me. Looks nice, but the plot just doesn't work and feels like stuff just suddenly happens.

Have you seen Hero, what did you make of that?

Aaand - What's with the Harry Potter films, I don't think their bad films, fair enough liking them, but why are they so great?

Don't tell me the Hobbit's already been released

Liking the Harry Potter films has a lot to do with reading the books, ive read all the books, taking days and days in total reading hours, the films are just the visual perception of great books, also with bits like the death eater vs auror fight scene in order of the phoenix its so amazing, others can probably explain better.

I put Quadrology for LOTR cause we all know tis going to kick teeth in with its awesomeness.

Youll have to remind me the plot of hero for me to know if ive seen it, might wiki it now, and why the angry face, you hate harry potter that much

The ranting was for house of flying daggers, I don't hate the film itself, it's not too bad, but. . . well I'll leave it there I think.

I've read the Harry Potter books too, I generally found the films a let down in the same way the Star Wars prequels are, not bad films in themselves, but not up to the standard you'd expect from the "brand".

Hero, an assassin (Jet Li) plans to kill a Chinese warlord who's trying to unite all of China. Told in flash back mode from the assassin speaking with the warlord going over how he made his plan with China's top three assassins.
