Well..this is one GP Lewis fans can put their hands up - Lewis threw it away. That spin was pretty rookie-ish...but no one's perfect!!

Jenson wins another gambling race, well done to the King of Las Vegas.

Vettel extends WDC lead...hooray.

Entertaining race at least!

Nope it was the last or 3rd pit stop that lost Lewis the race. With the yellow tire on Lewis would not of spinned off.

Yet again a bad desicion by McLaren...

Well apparently it was Hamilton's choice to go onto the inters so it could have also been his choice to go onto the S Softs.

Either way that was the point he lost the race and was on catch up duty.

I believe the super soft tyre call was Lewis'? Since he had conserved that extra yesterday, turns out it was a curse for the race.

As for the pit entry call for wets, according to Neil they brought Lewis in as he was leading Jenson and had the 'preference'...but then the rain started to ease off...again, turned out to be Jenson striking his 2nd lottery this year with this stroke of luck. Unbelievable..but at least he kept the car on track.

The inter was Lewis's call but the third pitstop is unknow as yet.

Saying it was Lewis's call is not confirmed at all.

Why would they put Lewis on super softs, and yet put Jenson on the softs, when they are 1-2 in the race? That's just stupid.

I don't think Jenson would have pitted for inters anyways

He can win them all and at the end od the day Lewis is still ahead of Jenson so i guess it's not to bad. It has just turned out it was a team desicion on all tire changes says Martin.

... and kobayashi doesn't get penalized for turning into algasuari... :banghead:
Hamilton would of had a drive through penalty for that.
#268752
Turns it was a team decision on the tires and the primes on the third pit stop. The 3rd pit stop was what lost Lewis the race notr the inters later on,with the prime tires on Lewis would not of span off and without the spin their would of been no drive through.

Anyway it's not that bad at all,Lewis still came 4th and gained a place on Webber and is still ahead of Jenson in the WDC.

Let's be honest we are fighting for second place now and that's as best we can hope for.

I think that was Jaimies fault actually, Koby would have had no idea he was there.

Well Alguersuari didn't get a penalty either :p

Its just the stewards normal inconsistency so it isn't really surprising.

It wouldn't have affected Hamilton's race if he hadn't gotten that penalty anyway since he finished 28 seconds behind Alonso.

Jaimie penalized himself, he lost a few places with that move, which was just a racing incident.

He spun because he was the first to encounter the wet part, being te leader this is what happens. Being on the harder tyre would have made no difference. But he should have got that tyre to cover Vettel. I think they were covering Alonso for what ever reason.

Great entertainment!

LOL at everyone still claiming Button is merely 'lucky' in these conditions! You may have had a point the first time but this is the fourth time he's done that for McLaren!

SV expanding his lead by 8 pts. to 85. This is the problem: the other drivers are taking points from each other (this time JB who was way back), so nobody can make inroads on SV's lead as long as he finishes on or close to the podium.
Incidentally, the two leading drivers SV and MW are the only ones to have scored in every single race...

Great race, with lots of entertainment. Shame about Lewis Hamilton's eventual demise to 4th, but that's what changeable conditions present. Jenson Button drove masterfully once again in such conditions, and was strong all race. Deserved victory.

Close shave with Heidfeld's car exploding in the path of that marshal, I hope he's OK.

Well done to Jerome D'Ambrosio on entering his pit-box in the most imaginative way possible.

Only ballache is that Vettel STILL extends his championship lead, even though he isn't winning the races. :banghead:

Good race to end on though, before the summer break.

I don't mind at this point. It's clear that RB at least now have a fight on their hands as opposed to being able to drive away from the field. Anything that can be done to improve the racing is good, and the fact that there's been no accidents of reliability DNFs for red bull, just means that it all balances out long term.

Great result for McLaren, they've got a car they can clearly fight with and they advanced on Red Bull in the WCC points and extended their lead on Ferrari.

Reasonably entertaining race. I would have preferred a Vettel win but it is a good way for Button to celebrate his 200th GP by winning. Another Button win by stealth with no one noticing him until he’s in the lead.

Vettel had a good steady race and didn’t take any stupid risks. Finished 2nd and extended his lead so mustn’t grumble. The Red Bull was clearly not happy in the wet, it looked a right handful so it was hardly surprising when Hamilton got past. No doubt the Hamiltonians will believe that Vettel couldn’t handle the pressure but only a monumental tit would believe this - these are top drivers not a bunch of amateur chumps. I was glad Vettel didn’t try to chase after Hamilton as the McLaren was clearly the fastest car to have today. Good pass on Alonso which is no mean feat. All in all a very mature and sensible race. No unnecessary risks and knowing that the car wasn’t the fastest at early in the race.

Hamilton had it all and then threw it away in a rookie mistake. Then to cap it all he nearly took out di Resta and the guy behind (can’t remember who that was). It was stupid for him to not wait until there was a bit of a gap and the penalty was just. McLaren switching the strategy and changing tyres before Hamilton taking his drive through was a smart move and the fresh rubber made the difference and salvaged 4th. The weather conditions spread the field out so Hamilton could have easily have been much lower after his drive through. On the bright side, he didn't feel the need to insult the race stewards or blame everyone but himself.

Both Merc’s had an amazing start with both Ferrari’s struggling for traction out of the corners. Pity about Schumacher’s gearbox dying on him. It would have been a good haul of point for Merc. Rosberg finishing 9th doesn’t seem much of a reward for Merc having one of their better weekends.

It was a good race for di Resta. Nice to see him in the points again.

Heidfeld’s sidepod exploding was bizarre. I have never seen that before and hope I never see it again. The radio 5 commentary mentioned that there is a nitrogen tank in the left side pod with the KERS unit being on the other side. Not sure what this would be for. I hoe the marshal who got hit by debris is OK. That could have easily be a nasty injury. The poor guy was just walking past and the bang! I was surprised there wasn’t a safety car for this and it looked a bit tight for Vettel getting out the pit lane with the wreck being taken up the pit exit.

So now we have 4 weeks until the next race. Whatever will we do?
