But this situation is a little different. I think in this case the FIA came down on McLaren like a ton of brick for deeds gone past. Settling a score almost.
It just so happens that the team to benefit most from this is Ferrari. Well, it was their technical dossier after all, regardless of how much you think they benefited.
It's almost like McLaren are currently sitting on the FIA's naughty step and even though Renault stole some of McLaren's toys the other day it's being overlooked because they are currently being punished.
I disagree. It's a chance for the FIA, and whoever else, to settle old scores, vendettas and help their mates at Maranello.

You are right to say getting 100% impartiality is very difficult, but the fact is whilst other sports have, say, ninety-something percent impartiality, Formula One has none. The fact is the system is open to abuse by any party. In another world on which McLaren were best buddies with the FIA they too would be able to reap the same advantages. As I've said before, the problem lies not with Mosley but with the whole system.
Some of what needs to happen is this:
- 1. All teams must get equal voting rights on the WMSC;
2. There must be no conflict of interest on the WMSC (i.e. Ecclestone and Todt to name but two should not be allowed near it);
3. The rules have to be open to less interpretation;
4. There should be more checks and balances, especially on the President (i.e. no new rules can be informally invented overnight, without ratification and only applying to one team)
In reading your posts DeMuRe I am flabbergasted that you think it is entirely acceptable for the FIA to favour Ferrari given they're the oldest team (you said that several weeks ago, not on this thread) or that we should just ignore and not try to stamp out corruption and favouritism in the sport.
