Hello people,

I have a couple of questions that I can't seem to find any answer to. In hope of getting some response from enlightened F1 fans, I post here ;)

1. Is the T on top of the cars a safety precaution if the car lands top-down? I assume that the onboard camera (aka. t-cam?) is incorporated in this area somehow aswell?

2. I've noticed that some of the teams have fitted "extruded nostrils" on the nose cone of the cars. What purpose does this serve? I've noticed it on the RB, HRT and Williams cars so far. You can see what I'm refering to in picture two from this link: http://www.formula1.com/news/features/2011/7/12383.html

Thanks in advance.

1. It's the camera and its housing. It's not a safety precaution but this style of camera has quite an effect on the aero compared with the older upright cameras. When these were first intorduced, the cars that didn't have cameras had fakes for fairness. I would imagine that they all have cameras these days.

2. I think these are cameras that the teams are obliged to carry.

Hope this helps.
