They're legal.

Most of us were hoping for Mark to pass Vettel or some little contact... but RB did the most logical thing.

Horner is in the bussiness of winning. Not in pleasing Ferrari or Mclaren fans.

There's probably a lot of Australians that would disagree with you.

The 3 extra pts are not going to be what Webber needs for his campaign. He needs P1s... lots of 'em. And Vettel needs to simply finish near the podium. At the slightest hint of risk RB will play it safe.

Had it been for P1, i think it could have been worth the risk from Webber's pt of view. But for 3 pts i think the weight of logic was on playing it safe. I think.

But Horner did give Webber the opportunity to fight Vettel, it went on for a few short laps. But it did happen.

You have absolutely no proof of that, simply conjecture on your part, it can be argued that it was Webber getting too close for comfort in quickly eating up a couple of seconds off of Vettel's lead that let to the command.

Huh? I watched the race.

Midway through the race, on lap 37 Vettel decided to pit prematurely in order to pass Hamilton via pit stop strategy. Webber pitted on lap 39, and since he had two less laps than Vettel, at the end that was important as tire performance fell off harshly.

On lap 51 he had closed the gap, and at Woodcote Webber had a good run, and got alongside Vettel, but had to back off because he was running off the track. Additionally, Webber was using his DRS, and both drivers were using their KERS.

And of course, Webber did admit he was racing Vettel and didn't when instructed to back off. As a result of this, he and Horner have a little meeting planned.

And what proof can you offer to support your viewpoint? I'm waiting.

There was a radio transmission broadcast about 2 laps from the end telling Webber to maintain the gap. Due to the delay in transmissions being broadcast, this message was likely a couple laps old.

Before this, Webber was closing in at a great rate of knots. Plus Webber admitted ignoring being told to maintain the gap. It certainly looked like the 2 were racing until about 1 lap from the end seeing that Webber was all over Vettel's gearbox.

So either they were racing or this was a wonderful bit of choreography.

That's all wonderful, but it's not proof, simply an account of what happened. The dispute isn't what happened, it's what wasn't allowed to happen. Otherwise you should make your statement more accurate and say Webber was allowed to spar... not fight.

It's not that I feel cheated by Red Bull - it's just a bitter pill to follow because I wanted to see Webber and Vettel race - so I could come on here gleefully boasting about how fantastic Vettel is if he successfully managed to hold him off!

I am still waiting for my chance.... Anyways, it looks like both he and Alonso could be battling more often in future races.

Edit: Oh and here's something. Another pole position for Mark Webber but yet still no laps led so far this year. If Mark used his advantage then we could have perhaps seen a different outcome. In my opinion, Mark Webber did not extract the maximum from this race, regardless. And we all know he is a terrible starter - so there will be none of this conspiracy nonsense... OK? :irked:

Don't speak too soon. That's what folk said after Hamilton won in China... :irked:

It's refreshing to hear, so thank you for the honesty. He's one for two now, one win Against Hamilton where he drove flawlessly and earned that victory more than any other this year by keeping the McLaren at bay, and one loss against Button where putting a wheel wrong cost him.

But you're right as a fan it's hard to have that empirical proof, imagine if the Lewis/Massa battle had been Vettel/Webber?

Horner's interviews after Germany 2010 and Silverstone 2011.

2010 - We let our drivers race
2011 - its a "team" point of view

Comparing 2 totally different situations.

Team orders were not openly legal last year, they are now.

Like it or not, they are perfectly legal and will stay that way.

Also, notice the reduced hairline on Horner's forehead between the 2 vids. I think he has been through a heck of a lot stress between the two vids and has probably learnt to change his opinion on a few things in running an f1 team.

I though laws were based on philosophy not the other way around. To each his own I guess.

“These are my principles and if you don’t like them… well, I have others.”

STRESS?!?!

More than likely it's from all the partying he's been doing celebrating race wins! :drunkparty:

After F1 there's a career in politics for sure.
