Hamilton might be the best overtaker, the best racer and the best at making up his cars deficiencies, but he lacks in maturity on/off track, and makes silly mistakes at crucial times.
Vettel might be the fastest, and be the best at starting from pole, but his overtaking is below par and his in the pack racing isnt the best by far.
Why each drivers respective fans cant just accept what theyre good and bad at i dont know, but the main problem in 2011 is that the Vettel fans, want to have their cake, eat it, sick it up again, and munch on it once more. They dont just want people to recognise Vettel is a top driver, they want everyone to "accept" the absurd notion that they are just lying to themselves that Vettel isnt the next Senna. You recognise that Vettel is a wordly talent and hhis current form is top notch, but then its not good enough when you dare to say its not the car doing the most work! Because it damn well is.
Vettel is his only challenger this year, and he hasnt finished off the podium, Hamilton drove a 2007 Mclaren for half a season finishing on the podium in his fisrt season, straight in the deep end, and then beat Raikonnen and Massa in a championship winning Ferrari and a teammate in Alonso to two consecutive poles and two consecutive wins, and led the championship by a gap.....
and yet STILL people said he hadnt proved himself, infact some people even now dont think he has, and we're all supposed to call Vettel the best driver on the grid because hes winning in a dominant car with an average teammate? Please, lets not be race stewards shall we, and add a bit of consistency to our ratings of drivers.
I personally and i think i speak on behalf of millions of F1 fans, want to see what Vettel can do when paired with a world champion teammate, in a less dominant car, but still a front running car. Thats the only fair way to make comparisons to other drivers.
