According to an interview http://www.formula1.com/news/interviews ... /7148.html Ross Brawn says that he is happy with Jenson AND Rubens as drivers in the Honda team. Rubens still has a 12 month contract to run. He sees the problems as elsewhere - not with the drivers.
So where does that leave FA?
RB also acknowledges (I think - reading between the lines) that Honda does have the traditional hierarchical set up that may be part of the problem.
Quote - ' I have some experience in working with Bridgestone. It was a very nice partnership between Bridgestone and Ferrari. Of course the culture is different. It's not better or worse, it's just different. You have to understand the culture, you have to understand the objectives of Honda and its executives, and you have to work with that and marry the two cultures. I don't see it as a major problem. In many ways I see it as being positive for what we want to achieve. I as an Englishman went to Italy and worked with an Italian culture which was different to what I was used to. You have to understand what the strength of your culture is and what the strength of their culture could be and bring the two together and make the best out of it. Honda is a large organization and you have to understand how to marry the needs of Formula One to the needs of that large organization.'

Anyway he has had a good year off and seems to be ready for the challenge. It is still not clear to me though , how much RB will be able to operate unhindered from above.

From the interview its also clear he hasn't really seen the in's and out's of the team or the drivers. His opinion of Rubens comes from working with him previously, and although he does admit Honda didn't give either driver the tools last season, I'm sure he wouldn't shirk from a big decision. The team will be asking why didn't Rubens perform like he did in Brazil more often? Yes, it was his home GP and an added incentive, but clearly in previous races he lacked something.

Honda should realise what RB brings to the team and if they get in his way or fail to see the bigger picture I'm sure he won't hang around. Hopefully we'll have more interviews after the forthcoming testing and when he's had a real chance to get involved, not during the honeymoon period.

Ross is a smart man and he would not sign up to a team as principal if it meant that major decisions were going to be made by the people in japan. I can't see FA at red bull and he won't sign for Renault for 3 years so that leaves FA without a drive for 2008. It's a shame really no matter what happened last year FA imo is one of the best drivers in the paddock

Ross is already gaining the confidence of the drivers, they will want to work for him...

When he's finished with racing I hope he takes over at the FIA - he'd be good at that also.

What a great idea, I think that would be an excellent job for him.

I can see him being very just and fair. Although, everyone up and down the pitlane had accused him of cheating with Bennetton and Ferrari...

Yup, I'm a big Ross Brawn fan - he could be good as MM replacement.

Good pics Bud, I think that R.B. is set to become F1s guru, Especially if Honda do well. Morale within the team must be soaring. When you come from such a low point the 'high' is so much more intense.

I don't expect any magic from him at least this season but do keep fingers crossed for 2009.

I think we will see abit of improvement over last year but I think your correct wasrana we may not see any significant improvement until '09. Then on the other hand Ross does not have to defuse a driver conflict so he can focus more on making the car competative.
