Perez is from the Ferrari Driver Academy (FDA) so, he'd be the more likely Sauber driver to move to Ferrari. Which means, if a major team is to pick up Kobi it might be McLaren or, to a lesser extend Red Bull.
McLaren driver lineup looks like it will be locked for a few years to go. I don't know about when Webber is thinking of retiring.
The Red Bull is more of a mystery, while I'm sure they would like to put another one of the Red Bull academy drivers in I just don't see enough potential in Buemi or Alg to run a top car. Vettel is strong but he won't go winning WCC on his own
As great as he would be for Red Bull, I want their Junior Academy to keep progressing. And that means both Ricciardo and more importantly Vergne need seats ASAP. Perhaps next year it will be RBR Vettel/Buemi and STR Ricciardo/Vergne.
So - where does that leave Kobayashi? I think in a Ferrari he would be great. Or maybe Schumacher's seat? I can't see seats opening up in Renault and McLaren anytime soon. See that's the thing: It's either Ferrari/RBR/McLaren or no one. Sauber has the potential to be the best of the rest soon.
However Perez is also driving great. Maaaan - they are a fantastic team. Sauber to make a big step forward next year? It would be nice to see them get a Japanese Engine deal....
