Keep hoping...
Things like that are unlikely to happen again, 'cause it was a clear strategic mistake by the team.

Engines suddenly stop revving, spark plugs suddenly stop sparking, team mates suddenly stop cooperating with one another... anything can happen, and last year is proof of that. If anything Red Bull's car last year was more dominant than this year's car and look at the amount of chances they gave both McLaren and Ferrari to take the championship away from them.

The RBR seems more reliable this year compared to last year (apart from KERS)

Everyone does... apart from Williams, and the new teams there as been a surprising little amount of DNF's. China if it wasn't for JA would have had no retirements!

And JA's misfortune wasn't down to reliability either, just pure sloppy work in the pits.

It would have been so cool to see all 24 cars finish! I've never seen that happen...but I have only just started watching F1 at the beginning of the 2010 season. Has anybody else seen it happen?

The only time all race starters finish a GP was the US gp that was a total farce back in 2005. There were only 6 cars on the grid. (the worst race I ever watched) I can't recall anything where the whole field were classified as finishers in the modern F1 era appart from that.

I think the 2005 US gp was the only race in F1 history where all starters were all classified as finishers. I'm not really sure though.

I remember that race. Absolute disaster. I remember Toyota got their first pole-position, but as they were on Michelins, they, along with everyone apart from Ferrari, Jordan and Minardi didn't start. I was so infuriated. That farce of a 1-2 handed Ferrari 3rd overall in the constructors championship. Otherwise, they'd have been 4th behind Toyota.

The Michelin tyre failures also caused Ralf Schumacher to hit the same wall that caused him so much injury in 2004. That seems ages ago now.......

It's happened multiple times. Monza, 2005, Zandvoort, 1961, maybe earlier ones, too.

Turkey 'set to lose' GP in 2012

Istanbul will not host a Formula One Grand Prix in 2012 due to a disagreement between Turkish officials and F1 commercial supremo Bernie Ecclestone over payments to stage the race, Turkish media reported on Friday.

The Hurriyet daily quoted Murat Yalcintas, head of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce which backs the race in Turkey, as saying the government rejected a bid by Ecclestone to raise the payment to stage the race to $26 million from $13 million.

"Formula One says goodbye to Istanbul," said a headline in the Haberturk newspaper.

Yalcintas commented on the situation on his Twitter account.

"It looks like the Formula One race will not be held in Istanbul next year," he said, referring to the bid to double the fee. "Because it found this figure very high it looks like it (finance ministry) will not make the payment. That is the reason the race is not happening," he said.

Ecclestone said last May Turkey could expect to stay on the Formula One calendar long-term despite attracting poor crowds at the circuit near Istanbul's second airport on the Asian side of the Bosphorus Strait.

The current contract runs out this year.

This year's Istanbul Grand Prix is scheduled for May 8.

Not that much of a bummer, the track is good, but the history and excitment around it isnt. Its just "another track",

this opens the path for another track to try and come in.

I think both sides would have wanted this to happen.

Bernie wants his money and is willing to put in other tracks and the Turkish government werent making enough money off hosting F1.

I thought all the drivers started but pulled into the pits after the 1st lap... but I have slept since then so my memory could be wrong.

I do remember it messed up the following race as well because qualifying was set by how a driver finished the previus race.

They all pulled in on the parade lap.

Personally I think we'll miss the turkish GP. It'll be one of those tracks people want to bring back in 5 or 6 years time. It's a good track, but just in the wrong place sadly. We had a thriller of a race last year, and I'm honestly expecting another great one this year, simply because turn 8 will shread up those pirelli's.
