Another highly watchable race this morning! Just a few of my thoughts-
Mega starts for Renault again, they seem to have some really good fundamental traction built into the car which bodes well for them at certain tracks. Especially great for Heidfeld to bounce back like this.

They are easily on for 4th in the WCC and may yet challenge for 3rd in my view. Thought Brundle's invented on the spot nickname for Petrov was quite amusing.
Red Bull are very beatable on race pace. I thought Vettel was going to utterly walk this season but there are a lot of things suggesting it won't be quite that easy. Shame Hamilton ruined his final set of softs in qualifying, that basically wrecked hs race, and somewhat needlessly too. He definitely has the raw pace of Vettel i think. Button isn't far off either, he seems very strong on those harder tyres. I'm still not entirely sure how he suddenly jumped Hamilton midway through the race though, he seemed quite a way back! Webber was screwed by having no KERS but i think today showed that he isn't done yet. Great comeback drive in a car that had a huge straight line disadvantage - he just did his overtaking in unorthodox places instead, it was great to watch.

I think he showed that there really wasn't much in it between 3 and 4 stopping today... Ferrari had massively improved race pace as i thought they might. Massa seemed a lot quicker too.
In the midfield, top 10 finishes for Kobayashi and PDR once again! I think i might have underestimated just how much talent Di Resta has... it was pretty frantic in that area of the field today. No idea why Rosberg had such a crap race. It is a shame to see Williams have such a bad weekend but i'm sure the car is better than this. They were very quick at times in Melbourne.
Regarding the penalties... hm. As someone has said a pretty dangerous precident has been set. An 'avoidable incident' is a pretty vague term anyway.... and Hamilton, i never even noticed his error because i was far too busy, you know, being completely entertained by a great battle between two of the absolute best men on the track! Shame these decisions take something away from that.
