To be honest, I'm glad they've finally got their act together - for a while there I was worried that the international community would procrastinate until all the 'rebels' had been killed and the population thoroughly repressed.

Throughout the centuries popular revolutions against tyranny and oppression have resulted in the spilling of enormous amounts of blood. Intervening in support of one side or another is clearly a moral and ethical minefield. But surely it is worse to stand aside and let a deranged dictator use deadly force against his own people just because they've decided that they don't want him to control them any more?

The biggest argument for this ^ is,

We do-gooder western nations are so devout to bringing democracy, yet we wont even touch north korea? Not a word to it.

But the military situation here is clearly different, the rebels formed quite a solid, stable base. The situation looks a lot easier to solve, like Scotty said,Gaddafi seems insane right now, and completely unable to let go.

Crucially, its clear the people of Lybia have had the key role here, going in with a foreign force against the many dictators of the world seems to just throw up more problems that it solves - at least going in without completely taking over the country.

Aren't North Korea within striking distance of Seoul, their military and Nuclear capability are also threatening.

The puzzling thing about the prevailing Arabic culture and the Muslim religion is their intolerance of any external and specifically western influence, yet they will turn a blind eye to their own sectarian violence regardless of how bloody or ruthless a manifestation it becomes.
