do or die for Webber? Na this guys dreaming. Vettel and Webber will be trading blows again this year

 Couldn't agree more.

Webber is only 34. We have a 39 and 42 year old racing on the grid. Webber could easily have another 4-5 years left in him before he starts to lose any speed at all.

I agree with all the above.

And...... I don't gamble, but with odd like Webber is shown at here I might even be tempted to put some money on him. I can't believe that a guy who led the championship and was in the running to win at the last race and is driving the fastest car is at 14/1 on one site.

What were the odds on Button before the first race in 2009 :P?

Unless Red Bull really want to push one of their youngsters through, which I have my doubts on given the performance of the Torro Rosso, I don't see why Webber would be on the way out. He's doing better than ever in his career and finally has a championship contenting car.

Massa admittedly has been a bit worse of in recent times but is there really someone out there who is going to replace him? The much talked about Kubica is out for this season and still no guarantees about his condition for racing when he gets back

I don't think it's do or die for Webber at all (but possibly a do or retire :P). I think he'll be even stronger this season than last if the car is as good or better relative to the rest like it was. He's got two things going for him from my point of view. 1) He's been in a position to win a championship and lost. Sometimes failure is the best thing for you. It teaches you a lot about yourself. 2) He knows he has the ability to challenge everybody and anybody on the grid. So frankly I think he will either win or be in the top 3 again this year, and if he's in the top 3 again this year then he'll probably sign on for 2012 with RB because you don't just quit once you're in a car that can win championships.

And for the record, I hope Rosberg kicks Schumacher's bottom again this year...badly.

You never know, he might have broken another 10 bones in his body. That way he has an excuse for not winning.

Blahahaha yeah very true, he seems to be on a pattern of breaking at least one bone in his body each year. To me though he doesn't seem like the kinda guy who will use it as an excuse but ya never know

Massa is only still driving for Ferrari now because Ferrari's plans to replace him with Alonso were scuppered when he was injured in 2009, forcing them to eject the vastly superior Raikkonen to make way for Fernando instead. Hence, yes, 2011 is very much do or die for Felipe. There are several drivers who would likely do a lot better in the sister Ferrari than he did last year.

Two drivers in different boats.

I think Webber's safe. In '09 no doubt Vettel out drove him, but didn't destroy him. Last year he proved that head to head with a quick teammate that he can be the equal on speed. The whole season, and Silverstone wing saga in particular, proved that he has the mental toughness to overcome setbacks. Everyone knows that he is a 'low-maintenance' driver, that just gets on with the job. Post Red Bull, I think a few teams would knock on his door.....

Massa, undoubtedly had the huge accident to come back from, and courageously did. I agree that Ferrari kept his 2010 seat partly out of sympathy and loyalty, which I respect them for. But he came into 2010 going from the team favourite, to the outsider with Alonso kicking goals with the team during pre-season. No doubt Alonso's time at Renault made him a confident team leader, virtues that helped him settle in at Ferrari.

Once the season started with a win first time out, Alonso undoubtedly gained moral ascendancy in the garage. Being out qualified and out raced through the year didn't help Massa's cause either. Hockenhiem was the race that put the nail in the coffin as far as 2010 was concerned. He was a shattered man after that.

Coming into 2011, I don't think he is under any illusion that if he can't match Alonso, not so much on single lap pace, but race results, he's out the door. I think he is a good driver, and seems nice enough, and would've made a worthy 2008 World Champion.

My bet is that the 2012 'silly season ' rumour will revolve around the second Ferrari seat........

It's Vettel's to turn down. Assuming he sticks with Red Bull...Gosh, I don't even know who they could go with...Only top driver I think they'd look at (And who'd be available) is...Lewis. And I'm pretty sure Alonso has a "No Lewises" clause.

Bear in mind the 39 year old is simply putting on a racing suit every weekend to extend the only record he will ever have - to compete in most F1 races..

And the 42 year old has history to back him up as well as contacts (Brawn)...and for him, this is the ultimate do or die year.

Neither of the two above are driving Championship winning cars...and haven't been for years.

Webber needs to respond to last season with a bang. Just coming 2nd to Vettel isn't enough. If he does the team would be looking for another replacement as they are well aware their current star is not the loyal type whatsoever. :whip:

I think Rubens is still fairly fast and judging by his move on Schumacher in Hungary he doesn't appear to be just out there to add to his most races record.

Rubens had a pretty fast car in 09 and had two fairly awesome victories. Valencia and Monza and was in the title hunt till the second last race.

Everything you said about Schumacher though I agree with.

True...his Brawn days completely slipped my mind. Probably because he looked like he was driving a Brawn with 3 wheels for 3/4 of the season. :D

okay what if seb were to leave RB and go to his beloved ferrari in 2012, would you think RB would end Mark's career aswell (even if he finish 2nd to Seb ) and leave 2 race seats to fill for 2012. Don't think red bull want to get caught out trying to find 2 drivers and Buemi and Jamie don't look ready yet to step up. I think thats why horner has come out and said recently that Mark is could still further his career at red bull

I think with Seb talking and dreaming about ferrari every 2nd week it has maybe got through to red bull that they might hold on to Mark for a bit longer knowing that seb could leave at years end or the year after that.

I could see Nico Rosberg as a potential RB driver if Mercedes GP can't step their game up through 2011 and 2012 but he's about the only one. I think he's got it in him to be a world champ. Or maybe even Kamui Kobayashi as a RB driver if he puts on a good show in the Sauber this year too
