I'm glad the grand prix was cancelled; I was disgusted at the thought of having a race there with all that's going on. And hopefully we can get rid of Bahrain for good.

Wiping a country of the map strikes me as cutting your nose of to spite your face

I mean the race, of course :(

Wiping a race of the map isn't much better

We're talking about Bahrain here... have you forgotten the massive rage last year when we had the SHITTEST opening race of F1's history?

In Bahrain's defence, that was mostly caused by the idiotic decision to use the Endurance Loop, which was ill-suited to Grand Prix racing. The vanilla Bahrain F1 Circuit, used in previous years and intended for use this year was and is much better.

Hansy - he's playing on your words? Wiping a race (of people) off the map... Geddit? :wavey:

Now hopefully they didn't see that and you pretend you're playing along.... :P

:(:(:(:(:(:(:( I don't wanna wait an extra two weeks! :banghead: On the positive side, this now means that the WRC 2010 game comes out in my country on the same weekend as the Australian GP so I guess I get a double dose of awesomeness that weekend

Oh, I won't pretend anything xD. English isn't my first language, I didn't notice the wordplay. At least it makes sense now! :hehe:

Yes, that new sector certainly didn't help at all; that doesn't mean the other version was actually good :D I know I wouldn't miss it.
(replying to that other thread, I wouldn't miss Turkey either :hehe: )

The F12010 game came out during the Singapore GP. It didnt really mean that much awesomeness, more like not enough sleep and too much money spent.

GPUpdate reports;
It has emerged in the Bahraini press that protesters are to target the season-opening Formula 1 race in a bid to ‘draw attention to their cause’, with capital city Manama currently scene of numerous riots which could also affect this weekend's GP2 races.

As reported on Tuesday, the Grand Prix is poised to be an ideal target for rioters thanks to its global reach of some 527 million television viewers.

“For sure F1 is not going to be peaceful this time,” Nabeel Rajab, Vice President of the Bahrain Center for Human Rights, told Arabian Business. “They’ll be lots of journalists, a lot of people looking and (the government) will react in a stupid manner as they did today and yesterday. And that will be bloody but will be more publicised.”

The protests in Bahrain follow other recent conflicts in the Arab world, such as those in Tunisia and Egypt.

Sad day for F1. Honestly I was so looking forward to this race and the season opener but we have to think about the safety of the sport and the drivers....Bernies wallet has a huge burning sensation right about now.....:hehe:

Very brave bet....but you're in for big big money if he does it. The odds are stacked against McLaren in the betting sites I'm sure.

So does the fact that the Saudi's have now sent troops into Bahrain, mean that it was the right decision to cancel the GP last weekend?

No, just race under closed conditions with UN peace keeping forces surrounding a 15mile radius centred about the track. Shoot anyone who gets to close. Simple.

Oh, no, lets cancel the grand prix instead. . .
