That was a very generous and kind thing too do Denthúl:) . Now before this thread recieves anymore irrelevant post or post concerning animals although I am a huge animal lover and have two rescues myself I would like to keep the topic on human to human jestures of kindness, please :) .
(I will adjust the thread topic so 'others' is not mistaken for anything else but our fellow man and woman.)

My reason for starting this thread was to show that although we as a world population are in turmoil we still care about others and alitte kindness goes along way. I have given money to the homeless, fed them and participated in Meals on Wheels and nothing helps keep one centered more than helping others regardless of their situation, if I am in a position to help someone less fortunate or in dispair I just jump at the chance to make even the smallest difference if even for just one day.

:)

This is another recent example of something I was involved in, although I was by no means the biggest contributor. Still, it felt nice to help out a fellow forum member and gamer. It's a very long read, but honestly it's just amazing to see the power that ordinary people can have, and what an inspiration that people with disabilities can be, especially when they show great determination to do the things they enjoy the most.

Get yourselves a cup of tea and read through it. With any luck, it will carry on and there will be more results to come of it. :)

Edit: Just in case anyone wants to know, I'm JHeaton on there. :)

I setup and installed the PA system for the local Cancer Research Relay for life for the last 3 years for free, I also managed to get a team together to enter the year before last.

It is not quite the same but it is for charity, I give a days pay a month to RAFBF.

I am also a trained SSAFA councillor.

I think you missed the plot  .

I was being daft

Daft is sometimes an inappropriate approach  .

I like to keep my good deeds between the recipient and myself.
:hehe:

Same here... ;)

So I guess neither one of you will have anything positive to contribute to my thread then :( ?

Tried to save someones life doing CPR whilst waiting for an ambulance and failed sadly... :( Poor man, 43 years old and was playing in a charity football match. He'd been undergoing chemo for cancer and hadn't yet been given the all clear, and also was told not to exert himsef. He was determined he wanted to play for the charity so went against medical advice. Must have been about 30 minutes into the game and he just collapsed and never came back around. Ambulance was called immediately, and took probably around 5-10 minutes to arrive, I was doing CPR the whole time with no response whatsoever. Paramedics took over as soon as they got to us, but no success. They said afterwards he was probably dead before he even hit the ground and nothing would have saved him... :(

From AMD, he's getting their as-yet unreleased Radeon 6990 graphics card, thanks to Gibbo at OcUK asking them to support the request made of EA/Visceral. From EA and Visceral, he received a bunch of Dead Space 2 goodies and from Codemasters, he's been offered (if I remember rightly) the new DIRT game upon release.

The bonus that comes from this is that the petition started by Chuck Bittner to get console developers to allow full control mapping in their games has more than doubled in size since the start of Gareth's thread and is now very nearly at 50,000 signatures. Chuck has also seen the significance of this feature in the PC gaming community to and, as such, when he goes to PAX East next month he will be raising the issue to developers for all platforms, not just consoles. Like Gareth, Chuck is also a really nice guy.

I'm proud to be part of all that, because it really has brought a community together.
