It's been on the car since the start of practice, but wasn't there on launch. It looks like its for the MRW. I think there's a fair amount of effort to create a mechanism that, if it in anyway fails, it fails to the closed position.

Those are just wingtip vortices not exhaust.

am i missing something, im talking about that black pylon that ive never seen before going straight up thrpugh the rear wing, not the pretty clouds.

The car was launched without it, they stated that their first day of testing they didn't run with the mrw so it's likely that they're not testing with it. A lot of the cars have a similar mechanism up the center. In that picture it looks think because it's from the side, but it's probably think and aero shaped.

and you're right, the vortices are very pretty.

The two oldest drivers in one and two closely followed by a driver without a confirmed race seat. I think this nails the view that testing is not representative of what we're likely to see come March 13th... :nono:

Let's not jump to rash conclusions hey? Mclaren might out develop Ferrari and Redbull in time for Abu Dhabi, their innovations could work better in the end, but just need mores} time to work out.

Or Ferrari and Redbull might not even be ahead.

wait till barca before you start worrying.

Mclaren might just be sandbagging or just doing long runs

Hmm, the Ferrari's long runs are very consistent, just like last winter. In the initial stages, the McLaren's tyre wear is good, but then it drops off at a steeper rate than the Ferrari towards the end of the stint. This could make things interesting. It was disappointing to see so many teething issues for them this week though, compared to the massive number of laps set by Ferrari.

yeah they might be holding back a bit,

i just hope that they pour in the laps at barca, but obviously not just for the sake of it, because like autosport have been saying, theres no point in going out and do lap after lap
