I miss Schumacher as well, he is the reason I started following F1 in the first instance.

It saddens me to think we'll never see him race another F1 car in anger, I don't care that his ethics were questionable sometimes, he was the most exciting driver to watch, especially when he was winning the races nobody expected him to win...

deMuRe I agree his ethics did come into questions a few time over his career but if you really want to nit pick you can question any driver. The only difference is that when you’re out in front you’re the most visible target to be vilified so everything is magnified. You could even accuse Hammy of a few unethical things this year (eg safety car incident & holding Kimi up in qualifying) & he has only been here a year.
That being said I just found this cut and paste of all the records Shumy has.
Can anyone honestly say that with a record like this it is only because of his debatable “unethicalâ€

Well that's not really true, because you can't do that kind of chop further down the grid - only if you're on pole position can you guarantee that you won't get held up by a car infront, and the whole point of a chop is that it's premeditated. Anyway, it's an old debate...

There is no difference between defending P1 and P13, if you chop you chop...

There is a difference between P1 and P13 - in P1 there's no-one infront of you, in P13 you have P11 directly infront and P12 to the side. So in P1 you can simply watch your flank and mirrors, accelerate and chop, but further back you have other factors to worry about, not least because your aim should be to attack rather than defend. As it happens I don't mind rough racing, but even his fans admit Schumacher overdid it at times.

I am gald to see the back of Schumacher.

It was outrageous how Ferrari openely broke FIA rules to allow Schu past his pet monkey aka no.2 (a real no.2) driver.

The Ferrari domination coupled with only one driver being allowed to race in their two cars gave us the most boring era F1 has known.

A most egregious offense, indeed. Your namesakewould never allow anything of the sort to sully his team, which is why McLaren is my second favorite team.

(It will always be Vanwall, for me, as my #1)

A chop is still a chop, doesn't matter what position you are in mate.

If you are P13 and you block P14 how is that different?

People thought Schumi overdid it because he was at the front and all eyes were on him...

Why are we arguing the chop? Schumacher did it with impunity.

I think people look at his parking in Monaco and smashing into two cars to win a WDC and attempt to win another when making their minds up about this flawed champion.

I have argued that point countless times with the Schumacher Anti's, you are very right Mike, when you are on top everybody is watching, trying to find that fault, get that next headline, fire up all the hate because of his success...

nice label, but not liking Schumacher does not a 'hater' make.

But if you're in P13 you're not looking at P14, you're trying to get to P12, or at least you should be.

I seem to remember Hakkinen being banned for a race in 1994 for causing an accident off the start from 8th place, so you can't say they totally ignore transgressions further back.

absolutely correct 1lapdown

when in front you dont have to worry about hitting they guy ahead off you....thus you can concentrate on what is behind and the side of you.....one less (and very important) plain to concern yourself about.

Not totally, but they don't get the same attention that P1 gets. Watch the next race start, you'll see more chops then a Teppanyaki kitchen on Friday night
