insulation
bulk
heat 6-800C
long exhaust pipe on high rev engine
timing/controls to keep exhaust overrun at pipe length for corners not straights
heaps of stuff that can't be near the long exhaust including fuel, fuel lines, KERS and electronics
can be copied cause not monocoque based (but I don't think anyone will be rushing to copy this)

For them to run with it, it surely has benefits that outweigh the negatives. So this is what they were talking about when they said they were going radical.

Admire anyone for coming up with new idea, good on em for that. It's just not all new ideas from outside the box are good

Personally, the whole testing season is like artists renderings of how new models in the future would look like, its all complete rubbish in terms of validity of respective pace....I couldn't care less until they start running in practice session in Bahrain.

What it really shows is how stupid the testing ban is. I mean, Renault have been creative enough to at least come up with an idea, and they are brave enough to give it a run. Yet they are penalized by not being to test it and see how it really works until 37 days before the first event.

the thing is, if you take away the testing ban, you have to have more staff for the test teams, that means more resource and more money, so that defeats the objective of saving money

I hear what you say, but then I read that Chelsea pay 50million quid transfer fee plus double salary for one player.

Remember, spending money on engineers to create, develop and test ideas isn't wasted money, because in the end we get more good ideas actually brought to fruition. It's like investing in R&D. Imagine if the drug companies stopped investing in developing new drugs... No wonder migraine cures, no new cancer drugs, no viagra!!
