It does seem funding is more important than talent. But i think its always been the same. To think the ammount Red Bull paid Vettel (in strict salary) i think its not all about money. But then you have the opposite spectrum of teams like Toyota and realise... hmmm at some point it all balances out.

The good solid teams will usually capture the bigger talents because they can source the funding, while the least privileged will take advantage of drivers with $ to develop their projects. So as a driver, you're either good enough to have a team dish money out for you, or you have some promise someone with $ buys, or you simply have a rich uncle. Some drivers/teams will be happy, others will get screwed; but like fred_dobbs said a while ago about something else: 'this aint the cub scouts'.

2009 was an abberation as far as that goes. There were no paying drivers that year. It's not new so I'm not sure why it's coming up in the news now, and if you're saying it's Trulli's bi+ching that's news, no, that's not new either.

di Grassi's been replaced by d'Ambrosio and he's gone on radio in Brazil saying, if it was based on performance he'd still have a drive at Virgin, but he was replaced with a paying driver.

Funny he's saying that, cause apparently Hulkenberg turned down a Virgin seat, and you can bet it wasn't Glock's!

I always wonder if you could pay to drive in formula 1.

Sakon Yamamoto... :hehe:
