Wow, the Schumi glasses are strong on this thread.
No different than the Hamilton glasses on 90+% of all the other threads on this forum
. I believe that the dislike for Schumacher is twofold on this forum.
1. Being that 90+% of the forum members here did not actually see Schumi race and only pickout his error's without realizing he had some spectacular drives.
2. The forum is 99.99% English based so naturally it's going to be an English driver who is supported. Hell I'm not German,English,French or Brazilian but I support Schumi and supported Mansell,Prost and Piquet aswell as Senna when they were racing.
His input on KERS is pretty interesting as well.
Yes it was
.
I'm not English based, I live in Scotland. Also I have watched live every single GP Schumacher has driven. Also, as you'll see by my signature, Schumi is one of my all time favourite racers.
I have to say though that I agree with most (not all) of Moss' comments. I continue to support Schumacher in his comeback and would LOVE it if he was right up there competing or winning the WDC next year to shove it to those that were criticising him so badly in the first 12 or so races of 2010, as I genuinely believe his problems this year were related to the fact he didn't have any hand in helping to develop that car. With a high level of input into the setup and design of the 2011 car, I'm certain that even if he doesn't win, he will consistently perform very well.
Where I don't agree and think you have been very disrespectful Tex is when you're talking about Stirling and Jackie Stewart saying that they 'haven't been in F1 for 30+ years'. I'd like to point out that Jackie stewart on a shoestring budget, sourcing all of his own sponsors etc. managed to start up, run and succeed with his own F1 team barely a decade ago that whilst not world beaters, in his few seasons managed to return both podiums and a race win! Lets also not forget, that that very team was the starting point and blueprint for who are now the 2010 WDC and WCC - Red Bull! And he's been actively involved in F1 pretty much consistently in some capacity or other consistently since he retired as a driver. Most of the comments he's given in the past and likely will continue to give in the future are usually pretty much spot on - sometimes harsh but not often wrong. Especially relating to Jackie Stewart, I think it's pretty silly to try and argue that he's 'not been in F1 for 30+ years' unless you specifically talk about being a driver, but even then, I'm quite sure he's got a right to claim a more valid opinion that anybody on this or any other forum on the internet.
As for Stirling, sure he didn't win a WDC, but he was racing at times that there were much fewer races in a season, a lot more unreliability, deaths left right and centre, and especially in eras dominated by the likes of Fangio. There is no shame in having finished runner up to a driver of that caliber, or in having even survived that era. not forgetting the courage he showed just a few months ago in surviving and recovering at his age from a two story fall down a lift shaft! Again, I can't agree with the disrespect levied at someone who is a living legend in the sport we love so much. His opinions on F1 are still valid today as he's still often in and about the paddock at various events, and I'm sure still has a fair bit of inside info on many teams and drivers even in this modern era.
I often agree with a number of your opinions on this board, but on this occasion I think you've been a little bit misguided... Just my opinion of course, and nothing personal whatsoever, so hopefully you'll not be offended.
