Who else think Ferrari lost the wrong driver?

I think this season would of been even better with kimi at Ferrari instead of Massa as he is a better driver and of got more points and would of made the title race even tighter.

Does anyone think he will ever come back?

Kimi was being outperformed by Massa before his accident, and had lost all motivation. Massa probably brings a lot more than kimi would have "behind the scenes", so helping with car development etc.

The problem with Massa is his confidence is gone,

Your thread title and post ask different questions.

I would have preferred Kimi, of course. He's one of my favorites. He's got tremendous talent, as well. Plus Kimi/Alonso at Ferrari would have been the team of the century. Kimi and Alonso are friends, it seems, and I doubt Kimi cares if hes a 'number 2' driver. He just drives. On the other hand, being the number 2 has shaken Massa.

Whether Ferrari preferred him, hard to say.

If Kimi appeared un-motivated towards the end of last season, I'm sure it had something to do with Ferrari's poor car development. I don't believe they brought any updates for like the last 6 or 7 races. I wouldn't be too thrilled to drive a half-year old car in F1, either.

IMO, F1 missed Kimi this year. Talent wise, Kimi and Alonso are in a class of their own, in some respects (though, it's hard to evaluate drivers in lesser rides).

As for Massa, I feel bad for him. Mentally, he's down. Hasn't had it since the crash, hasn't had it since be became the second child at Ferrari. I've seen spurts this season, which, to me, indicates he still has the talent. I hope he can get it together at Ferrari or elsewhere for next season.

I agree with your assessment of Kimi and Alonso but disagree a little bit on Massa.
In my opinion, Massa always knew he's going to be #2. He played that role with Michael, Kimi (1st year) and now Alonso.
The only time that Massa shined at Ferrari was the year when Kimi lost interest (as you mentioned).
Yes we do see bursts of talent here and there but consistency is what puts a driver on top.
I think his lack of performance this year, is more related to his accident and maybe at some sub-conscious level he still fears for his life (that accident was horrible and could have cost him his vision or even his life).
Will he recover from it or fight to become #1 at Ferrari? I doubt it.

In hindsight for this season; yes. Kimi would have done better, he would have been in the title hunt I'd say but Massa was starting to get his mojo back near the end of the season, you could see it about the way he was driving and even talking in interviews.

Wow maybe I'll place a bet on your 'crystal ball of knowledge' for 2011.

Someone mentioned Kimi doesn't care if he's no.2 or not...well in 2008 he was simply driving around for the 2nd half od the season and setting the fastest lap in the last 3 laps of each race. It was quite frustrating and I don't blame Ferrari for kicking him out to be honest. The whole world knew he could do better.

This year, no one could've predicted how Kimi would've done. He might've blasted Alonso of the track, or he would've been worse off than Massa. He's more unpredictable than he's quiet.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU Big Azza. It's a bugbear of mine as well.

If you'd not pointed it out already, I would of.

:yikes:

Sorry, just realised I ended that last sentence with a preposition... My English teaching missus will disown me as a preposition is not something to end a sentence with.:wink::wink:

gotta admit Kimi would of made 2010 more entertaining.

Cant see him pulling over mid season :hehe::hehe:

I don't think Kimi would have made the same mistakes as Fernando did. He'd have been settled at the team, not under pressure to deliver the title in his first season with them (a feat that he had already accomplished) and generally not being hot-headed. I do wish Kimi had driven this season, but of course that would have meant either Fernando or Felipe not being at Ferrari...
