To tell the truth, probably I will buy it too. Not because LH but I like racing games. Its difficult to find a really good game of F1 (Lots of NASCAR/Rally). So I will wait patiently for the release. (Hope it will be for PS3).

Talkin about that...I bet everyone have heard of this device:

Sweet isn't it?

Yeah, that will be in my letter for Santa Claus. (Also the PS3!)
And now that I am dreaming I would like a huge plasma TV to watch 2008 season...

Its all true.
EA now have the rights to make F1 games. Which is utterly brilliant.
Since Song only made them for the PS2, EA make them for the Xbox as well, so i can still race F1 cars. Yeah.

Montoya had his face on one of the games to, and he never won a championship.
But come on, Lewis has deffinetly been the star, and therefore face of this year, it just seems smart to get him on front of the box.

Hmmm... though not American (well, not USAmerican at least), Montoya came to F1 from Indy and with that, he was known and popular in US and potentially good magnet for US buyers.

LH is not from Indy, nor from US. I really don't mind him having a game, I'm just wondering how's EA seeing whole F1. I'd guess more Americans are familiar with Ferrari than with McLaren; plus they are constructor and driver champions. Plus, it is still unknown what is all this MM-spy-crap going to do to McLaren image.

As I said, I was simply surprised with their choice. Looks I'm in minority here.

... making himself an easy 10 millions for letting EA to use his name and likeness in still untitled racing video game. As Sony is current owner of exclusive rights to make F1 games, it is not known if game will at all be F1 related. Or, maybe EA will grab rights from Sony on the next go..?

Now... is it just me or LH hype is really out of control? I mean, kid is not even a champion yet; and no one knows when (or even if) he will be, specially that McLaren will be easily screwed up next season for using Ferrari's "ideas" (and I can see how easy it will be to find same ideas everywhere - it is not like different F1 cars are designed on completely different basis).

Much as I can recall, all other drivers got their video game once they became champions - Richard Burns, Colin McRae. I can't even recall if MS had his video game (except for some cart racing title). And what about FA and Kimi - they are recent/current champions, right? Senna F1 racing? So kid will be first vice-champion to have a game.

I'm wondering... will players get more points if they finish 2nd rather than 1st? Will there be dedicated X button on the game's controller layout to make it more challenging? Just kidding.

One thing for sure - LH has hell of a PR & marketing force under his coat.

I just brought his offical book and soon as this game comes out I will be buying it and if it upsets you even better goooooooooo Lewis so proud of you.

LOL I'll probably get it too (if it comes out for PC), though I'll not necessarily play as LH

No I really don't mind ANY driver having his game, I'm just surprised LH is considered more comercial (for game) than MS was. Or many other drivers that were - or still are.

Seconded, and it will only get better.

Back slightly more on topic, I'm not expecting too much if or when a game is made, because it will be an EA game. And they'll only proceed to rip people off with another mediocre game, beefed up with a licence.

Lewis does seem to be appearing in a lot of markets at the moment...

Well... their last F1 game - at least PC version - was considered the best F1 game up till then.

That was F1 2002. 'course it looks so ugly today, but in 2002 it was a looker, and it drove well.

I'm sure MS got a lot of offers for games, I've never played a good game that's been alligned to a perticular person, it's just a marketing ploy.

All the stand out racing games aren't alligned to any drivers.

Any racing game with LH on the cover is going to be marketed towards 12 year olds...

Richard Burns Rally is considered to be one of the most hard-core racing simulations on the market.

I think that F1 2002 mentioned above had Montoya's image on the cover (at least for the USA market), though game was not dedicated to him particularly.

It seems to be a matter of publisher's philosophy (and maybe licensing thing as well). Sony's F1 games never had any particular driver advertised - much as I can recall anyway.

Well... not really :)

While Nintendo did have (and still does) plenty of cute kids' characters in their not overly aggressive games, Sony tried to get older gamers from start - with titles like Resident Evil, "serious" driving sims (Gran Turismo), role playing (Final Fantasy) etc. Of course they had Sonic, Croc and other kiddish heroes as well...

He's also on the cover of the UK version of F1 Challenge 99 - 02.

Playstation is actually marketed at 18 to 40 year olds, they want all that disposable income.

With regards to racing games with driver's faces on the front, adults can tell a good game from a bad, I'm saying the only one buying these games with LH on the front will be 12 year olds who don't know any better.

Unless they go against the grain and actually make a good game.
