... making himself an easy 10 millions for letting EA to use his name and likeness in still untitled racing video game. As Sony is current owner of exclusive rights to make F1 games, it is not known if game will at all be F1 related. Or, maybe EA will grab rights from Sony on the next go..?

Now... is it just me or LH hype is really out of control? I mean, kid is not even a champion yet; and no one knows when (or even if) he will be, specially that McLaren will be easily screwed up next season for using Ferrari's "ideas" (and I can see how easy it will be to find same ideas everywhere - it is not like different F1 cars are designed on completely different basis).

Much as I can recall, all other drivers got their video game once they became champions - Richard Burns, Colin McRae. I can't even recall if MS had his video game (except for some cart racing title). And what about FA and Kimi - they are recent/current champions, right? Senna F1 racing? So kid will be first vice-champion to have a game.

I'm wondering... will players get more points if they finish 2nd rather than 1st? Will there be dedicated X button on the game's controller layout to make it more challenging? Just kidding.

One thing for sure - LH has hell of a PR & marketing force under his coat.

It can also be viewed that he is looking out for his future in term's of financial stability, not as if a $120 million dollar contract would no doubt guarantee that if he get's it, but aside from that YES it's way too early in his career to have this happen. If he was a WDC he could command 2-3 time's that amount I would think.

It seem's to be based all on 'speculation' of his future achievement's which are in no way guaranteed.

I hate to say it but you gotta strike the iron while it's hot.

He is increasingly becoming a sell out in my eyes - i see at least one ad with him in every day...

Not here in NZ - lucky me; but then, V8 supercars/Ford vs. Holden/whatever is the name of the game when it comes to motor racing for a typical Kiwi...

Remember the internet bubble? Speculations on future earnings drove the stock prices through the roof and then everything collapsed. I hope the L&AH Corporation won't suffer a similar fate...

Yeah, but I can't understand why EA is not making something like "Kimi Raikonen's Ferrari Challenge". Or whatever. What makes EA think that LH name is the best bet for commercial success of the game? Surely there are more Ferrari supporters around the globe, and even people not into F1 know about Ferrari just fine, while McLaren is more of F1-specific name. Plus, Kimi had a blast of the season - from underdog to champion (while LH did the opposite, sort of). I don't know about you guys, but Kimi's 2007 looks much more inspirational to me.

Could it be they think Kimi is not enough of role model for a game?

If someone wants to pay him to make the game and people want to buy it I cant see a problem. He's been predicted to be the biggests sports earner ever so this stuff will happen and more.

Well I love F1 games, and I love Lewis Hamilton. So this is good for me. If EA get it then it will be like the Tiger Woods games, getting one per year. That sounds good to me!

Lewis Hamilton has huge marketing potential.

Without stating the obvious, go check out how many products Tiger Woods endorses.

Its all true.
EA now have the rights to make F1 games. Which is utterly brilliant.
Since Song only made them for the PS2, EA make them for the Xbox as well, so i can still race F1 cars. Yeah.

Montoya had his face on one of the games to, and he never won a championship.
But come on, Lewis has deffinetly been the star, and therefore face of this year, it just seems smart to get him on front of the box.

If EA do have the license then this means more F1 games on various formats. I'd also hope they try and bring a bit more F1 feeling to the games as off the track they were disappointing. Should be interesting.

As for LH, he's already said he plays games and F1 editions in the past. EA quite often with FIFA pick big stars from each country and adjust the box image to suit.

It's not like Hamilton has went to EA and said "put me on the front of your games." They've offered him the chance, so he's taken it. What's the problem?

Maybe it's a GP2 game :p

EA did make an F1 game for the ps2, it was ridiculous, you only had to brake twice in a lap of Spa.

This could be good, can't be any worse than the Mansell games which were all Super Monaco GP clones. :P
