I still can't quite believe it. Basically Hulkenburg either had a higher downforce setup or he just completely nailed it... and you have to suspect the latter as he was nowhere really until then. It's such a huge spanner in the works for the title contenders, imagine if Hulk keeps the lead, then we'll have all 4 of them (probably) backed up behind him. Not to mention the fact that there's usually first lap retirements...
But numbers 2,4 and 6 will start on the dirty side, won't they? Or the rain today might have affected and washed it clear so everyone has the same circumstances in the start?
Well, consider that the track had a dry line at the end of the session... it might give an advantage, hard to say. Support races might take some rubber off and lessen the advantage. No substitute for a good start though.
Hulk had nothing to lose. His pole is, what, three seconds slower than Vettel yesterday in the dry? The track was drying quickly and the WDC hopefuls all were being a tad more cautious.
And Hulkenberg made a complete fool of them all really.
